Just curious.. I have not heard a lot of people screaming about the polar ice caps lately (and heck, I think they have moved to my back yard!! )
So, do ya?? It is going to be March soon, and we all know that there is plenty of snow to go around.. with lot s more comming!! [:@]
Firefyter-EmtMaybe there is just global warming where I live........I don t see any snow anywhere *looking out door*.
Firefyter-EmtLocal warming is more like it, in the family room of our house, with the thermostat way up :)
Firefyter-EmtWe have plenty of ice and snow here. There are a lot of birds around the bird feeders.
Firefyter-EmtNow, not being an expert (on anything) I may be really blowin cold here (get it?) but I was kinda thinking that the way this global warming would work would be that as the warming over the polar ice caps continued, they would begin to melt, sending more and more frigid water into the currents, and that would gradually COOL the oceans and everything else, leading to another ice age. Of course, it doesn t seem that it should be starting right away this year, but who knows?!

Firefyter-EmtOh pleease, do not bring up unpleasant subjects, I always though that would happen loooong after I am gone from this world !
Firefyter-EmtAs I see it, Global Warming is a religion. As such, anything that happens, good or bad, can be explained as being caused by Global Warming. Drought? Global Warming. Floods? Global Warming. Dinner burned? Global Warming. Win the lottery? Global Warming. Freeze your pipes? Yup, Global Warming.
Personally, its been so cold around here lately that I support Global Warming.
Austin (opinion may be temporary...ask again in August)
Firefyter-EmtI d love to buy some Global warming, and I d stick it right in the back yard - the driveway and sidewalks too. I m getting tired of slipping around!
Although, I can t wait to finish off with this blizzard - I ve wanted to build the kids a great snow fort and I think it ll finally be deep enough to where I ll just dig out a small little cave! Neat!
Firefyter-EmtNo, I don t buy it!
I have been snow blowing and shoveling for 2 days now. Thanks goodness my next door neighbor broke down and bought a snow blower!
The pile next to the driveway is taller than the cars. Don t even ask about the pick-up, I havn t bothered with it.
One of the last home projects I did before it got cold was to put in a lamp post in the front yard. While it stands over 6 feet tall, only about a foot of it shows out of the snow.
I had to walk across the front yard to shovel out the heat pump compressor. Snow in areas that has not received anyting from the shovel and the snow blower is well above my knees.
Obviously the county hasn t even thought about our subdivision as the plows on the main road just fill our entrance road with snow.
Firefyter-EmtI don t buy the whole global warming thing either. Historically scientists have said that the earth s atmosphere goes through cycles. The 1 degree that the earth has warmed should turn around and cool down that 1 degree if history repeats itself. Besides that, I am looking outside and the trees are covered in ice and the temps are around 34 today. Not very warm for South Carolina. Heck, it was 70 degrees on Saturday night, so another typical South Carolina weather week.
Firefyter-EmtI ve never been a believer in it myself. Even though MN hasn t had a decent winter in a long time.
They are only looking at records for such a tiny piece of the history of the earth.
And they know that there are cycles in weather anyway. So I don t think they have a clue.
But I do believe we can and probably do, have some effect on the earth, but I don t think we will ever know what our effect is.
Firefyter-EmtYup, I see you guys all proved me right!! I m not an expert on anything. haha

Firefyter-EmtAustin.. I have been joking latley with some shops about a state wide rmoval of all emmission systems from cars in an attempt to bring our selves out of this new " ice age" I have not seen the dirt in my driveway in months!!
Bunk science I tell ya.. Bunk science!! [;)]
Firefyter-EmtYep, sure do. Then, again, I am not buried under 6ft of snow. Went camping this last weekend w/o hook-ups. Great days 74F today. Three weeks ago it was 88F. Love having a 12 month camping season.
Firefyter-EmtTalk about dredging up old posts! After reading about how tired everyone was of the heat, I wanted to bring back memories of winter! [;)] Be careful what you wish for, because in this case - you will get it!!! [:D]
Firefyter-EmtAndi, yesterday our temps here in the Grand Rapids MI area were in the 60 s, and that was the high. We actually had a wind chill reading, and it was raining, too. So, fellow campers, listen to her when she says " be careful what you wish for" , cuz I was wishing for a little relief from the heat, and look what it got me!?!
