Very sorry to read about your MIL going into Hospice. My experience with Hospice means time is getting short. Good luck & best wishes!!!

My little 8,000 BTU portable room ac manages to keep my unit right where I want it, except when it gets above 85º out there, then the 13.5 on the roof kicks in when indoor temps exceed 73º...

At least you are all on the same page.  That helps a lot!  I've seen many times where the person who needs hospice wants it, but the rest of the family pressures with messages like "No! You can't give up!", that are just selfish and unhelpful.

Camping can wait.....

Thanks Dave. It's been a tough year. At least Mom is at peace with what's happening, she requested hospice. So far they have been wonderful setting things up.

We had our A/C die one year.  Naturally it was on a campout where the temps got to 105 where is it normally in the 80s or so.  We did a lot of touring around to anywhere air conditioned that weekend.

I'm glad you could get away Tim.   I have experience with hospice for family members.  It's sad that you need them, but hospice is staffed by amazing wonderful people and are a great help.

YES. That is one big reason we don't like hotels. Donna will check the bed before I can even set a bag down.

Anyway, our Airbnb cabin was nice, modern. Hot tub, snacks, all kitchen appliances, shampoos, etc. We left home late and it was dark about an hour before getting there. Not sure why maps sent us through several small towns on dark country lanes but at least I missed the deer in the road, by maybe 2 or 3 inches. :)
We did find a nice ice cream shop and an Amish country store after a visit to the state park. I'm just glad that BIL & SIL came so I could get Donna out of town for a couple days rest. Today we are setting up hospice for MIL.  :(

I've never used camping cabins, and I actually have 10 one week free rentals with my Thousand Trails membership, but you have to pay them cash up front, then send in receipts for a refund after the fact. I also get one "Get-a-way" cabin per year. I just have no use for them so it's a worthless membership perk for me.

And where I'm working right now, we have about 40 rental cabins, and though they seem pretty nice and are professionally cleaned after each guest, I just don't feel comfortable sleeping in a bed that someone else has already used (kind of why I got a camper in the first place).

We haven't hit the cabin yet but I know this will be the one and only time we use Airbnb. On top of the $427 spent to rent the place for two nights, they just took a $300 damage deposit. Yes, it's refundable after check out as long as the host doesn't ding us for a few dog hairs left behind. I mean why are we paying a cleaning fee?

At this point we are just hoping we can go. MIL has been in ICU for 3 days now, not doing very good. At least SIL and BIL are coming to town to help. I just need to get DW away for a day or two, she has been working 40+ hours and going to the hospital morning and night.
