Crazy Weather

I have to say this fall/winter weather here in SW Ohio has been the craziest I've ever experienced. Christmas it was so cold (-7° F) the dog didn't even want to go out. The next week it was in the 50's. Mid-January and it's 65° F outside, for a day. Next day it's 37° F and raining. More sunny weather with temps in the 40-50's for a couple days. Then rain and wind, with gusts hitting 50 MPH one day. Next day sunny, but breezy with temps in the upper 40's. Then a threat of snow overnight that doesn't happen, until almost 7 AM. That is now dumping a LOT of the white death on us as I write this. Geez, have I mentioned yet that I HATE winter?

At least it's not run the furnace at night and by mid-day have to turn on the A/C weather!
But so extreme in such a short span is just unreal.

We ended up with around 3-4" of snow. By afternoon it was melting slightly, but more forecast in 2 days. Ugh.

We had a touch of snow since my last post on the 15th.

All I hope is it won't be snowing in July!

A close friend of mine that was spending the winter down here in Florida, flew home to Massachusetts yesterday in a planned 1 week trip home for Doctor appointments for himself, wife and his parents. It also provided an opportunity for his daughter and her husband that is running his business now that he's retired to take a winter snow mobile vacation. He found himself out running a snow plow as well as sanding & salting. So within a matter of hours he went from Palm tree'S to snow plowing!

Crazy down here too, setting new heat records for the Orlando area for February. I'll still take this over the snow though!

I'd expect some change going from Florida to Massachusetts, but palm trees to snow is not for me.
It's 27° here this morning. It's almost like someone has a big thermostat and keeps turning it from high to low.

I was in Chicago last week.  One day the forecast was for "festive flurries"    Those apparently are the snowflakes that come down pretty and white and don't last to turn into dirty gray piles of frozen ice/snow/dirt.  The "festivities" started about 9pm and by morning there was 1 1/2 inches of powdery festive flurries that melted and were gone by afternoon.   It was pretty.... as advertised!

Festive Flurries, that's one I've never heard. To have snow on the ground in the morning and it melted away before noon happens here pretty often. In 6 years of owning a snowblower it has been used three times.

The last two days we've had strong winds and lots of rain. The yard was looking like a swamp. The wind pushed the No Parking sign in the front over a bit. In the background a big limb from the neighbor's tree is laying on their firepit.

I have been watching all the crazy weather all over the country this year. Even in Phoenix it's been colder than what I understand is normal, certainly colder than the last three winters. I would still rather be here than anywhere else. No snow in Phoenix, but I hear southern California has been getting snow.

Snow in LA is crazy! What is stupid is folks in the higher elevations were warned but didn't get out. Then they complained they were stuck. DUH! There will be snow on the ground in Tahoe until next winter. Hopefully this fills up some of their reservoirs.

The last two days it's been "Festive Flurries" here in SW Ohio. Cars and roofs covered but none sticking on the roads.
It's March already Mother Nature! Two months to camping! Let's get spring underway.

They have Frost warnings in Northern Florida for tonight, which is odd this late in the year. Temps have been pretty consistent at 85-90º the last couple of weeks...

We are going to hit our first 60 degree day of the year this week.  85 is for mid-summer and 90 is too hot.

It's already hit 70°+ a couple of days here. Darn thing is cold and snow days filled the gap between.
After flurries the last two days, today is supposed to be almost 50° and sunny.
