When changing a tire on a 01 cheyenne, do you place the jack under the axel or under the frame? also, a question on the stablizers, when you crank it down to the ground, do you just snug it to the ground or do you give it another full crank?

 thankyou

redwoood34The directions on our owner s manual says to place the jack under the frame just behind the tire.  I checked this with our dealers service tech as it seemed a bit odd.  He said that that was correct.  Have done this with no ill effects.  Tire comes off the ground surprisingly fast.  Thought there would be more " travel"  in the springs.

In our " walk-around/set-up"  when we purchased our Sea Pine, the service tech told us to crank the stabilizer down until it just made ground contact and then take it one full turn beyond that.  It conforms with what the owner s manual says and it s worked fine for us.

 Hope this helps.

redwoood34The reason behind jacking the frame is to prevent damage to the axle.  Most axles could be bent with surprisingly little force.
Always jack up your pop up by the frame.

redwoood34Jack it up by the main frame and the jacks should cranked down 1 full turn.[:)]

redwoood34I ve always jacked it up on the frame, just behind the leaf spring. Figured jacking it up at the rear corner might place too much unsupported weight along the middle of the frame, and jacking it up in front of the tire would be trying to lift the hitched-up tongue (in effect, putting more stress on the frame).

As for the stabilizing jacks, it always looked like a full turn after ground contact would lift the trailer past the needed point of " stabilization" . I ve always used about 1/4 turn, and it works fine. Won t a full turn past contact get into the " lifting and/or leveling"  phase?

AB: Doesn t seem to and has no ill effect on trailer (door works fine and everything else works as it should).  This is what our Coleman tech showed us and it fits what the owners manual says.  Of course if your happy with 1/4 turn, can t see how that would cause a problem.

redwoood34AB: Next time you go out try the full turn, It s a big difference in wobble. I also used to just touch, then a " little bit"  more. But one time it was too shakey, so I went a little more. Turns out it was about a turn. Now I do that all the time.
