Toolman Tim

Well it s been a couple of months and I though I d try out PUT with the 10 day trial to see how its come along.  My ten days are up and just thought I d say goodbye again.  I love the new format and all the options, Arvee is cool also.

Although the wealth of knowledge here is priceless.  I was kind of hoping to see some discounts to offset the price of membership, thats the only way I could bring myself to shell out the $$$.

Im not knocking anyone for being here or blamming anyone for wanting to get paid for a job well done.  Just sayin  it s not for me at this time.

I ll be at PopUp Explorer (a free membership pop-up site) if you miss me.[:)]  I hope some of you will join us over there and think of us as friends not competitors.

You can always email me at toolmantb@hotmail.com

P.S. To the Powers that be.
You might want to think about making the " Arvee Club Membership Information (Members Only)"   open for Public Acces so we can see whats new for Discounts, Priviliges, RV discounts, and rebates when we ve worn out our free trial.

Toolman TimTim, first of all thanks for the suggestion, it sounds like a good one.

The entire gang here at Pop Up Times (PUT) understands that not everyone is going to be comfortable with a pay site. Additionally folks may frequent several sites. We want this to be your everyone s favorite site and will try to provide benefits that more than make up for the fee.

Many members have more than paid for their membership with one " special buy"  at the PUT store.  The savings on the Paha Que Promotion for Arvee Club Members saved some of them over $60.

As PUT is a pay site, we could never expect someone to pay money for something they have never seen. That is why we are happy to offer the free trial that you have had.  I just wish you had posted here a little more.

All of us at Pop Up Times want harmony with all other available Internet resources for pop up camping. We will not tolerate posts here that disparage any of the other resources out there.   Additionally we have no problems with links to other sites and I have even posted every pop up site I can find.

Good luck over at PUX and we wish Dean the best of luck with has site.

Toolman TimTim I wish you were staying, but I understand.  Happy Camping.

Camping Coxes

 Toolman TimTim --

Here are a few ways I ve justified my $30:

 1.  Sold my Rockwood within one week to a family who lives less than five miles from me -- $2,000.
 2.  Found bunk-end fan lights through the recommendation of another member.  Coleman price is $80, plus S&H.  The recommended ones are $28, plus S&H.  That s $50 each light, and I ll be buying two.
 3.  Got steered away from buying a model that has a significant history of problems by advice from PUT members, as well as Dave -- savings $4,400.
 4.  Got advice and a diagram on how to replace the lift cable on my Rockwood before I sold it (being a conscientious pop-upper, I didn t want to sell it with a known major repair looming).  Cable was $40; estimated cost of repair at dealer was $430.  Dealer was unable/unwilling to provide such a diagram for me.
 5.  Ongoing advice on purchase of brake systems, weight distributing hitch, etc. will no doubt make sure I get the right product for my needs from experienced people who have no commission or quota to make on a product.

I m sorry to see you go, and you probably can t even read this post, but for others, maybe this helps make you feel better about the cost.

Toolman TimTim, we ll miss you, but we understand  your reasons for leaving and hope you  and the family always find good camping both on the web and in " real life!

Gamecock Camper

Toolman TimGood luck ToolmanTim.  I m glad that there are people who can tell us what they like and don t like about the PUT boards without trying to stir up an us versus them debate.  I understand your reasons and wish you much good fortune in the future.  I might even pop over to join the Pop-up Explorer board too if your post is reflective of the type I ll see over there.

Camping Coxesnot to change the subject but I am interested in what bunk end fan lights you decided on and whre you purchased them. We attended the RV show this weekend and saw the bunk lites in action for the first time (we bought our PU used so we haven t done much dealer shopping or browsing. I was astounded to find out the cost of the coleman ones( I mean after all its not rocket science here!) and was hoping to find a cheaper alternative. Hope you can help!

Sorry to see Toolman Tim leave too.

 a1coolmomA1coolmom,

I posted a note to you about Add-A-Rooms.  Same site carries FAN-T-SEE brand of combination fan/bunk end lights.  I have never used the product.  But at that price I can t see the harm in giving them a try.

Here is a link to the thread about the FAN-T-SEE combo light/fans.

Toolman TimI agree with you Tim.  I thought I try out the trail membership too.  I do like the format, and I miss this site.  But I posted a question about a campground in PA, and it took half a week to get just one response.  Last year I loved using this site for campground reviews, and I bet each question got at least a dozen responses in no time.  There must not be too many members yet.  Thanks for letting me know about the other forum site.
