Ab DiverThe Tekonsha Voyager works wonderful too. About 90% better than a time-based controller and 10% inferior to a Prodigy, IMO. Runs about $40-$50 less than a Prodigy.

JemJen24Welcome to the board!!!  I ve taken my camper out with DS(2), with some help setting up from other people from this board. But I ve got one of the old sissor arm types where you actually neeed to lift the top up manually. If I had a newer modle I could definatly set up myself.

As for the backing up, well It s still in the " intresting  range, but I ve done it.  And if I can, anyone can. May I suggest McKinney falls St. Park, in Austin for your first attempt  they have nice BIG sites to back into LOL.

I ve been lucky enough to have a chance to meet several people from this board at campouts so far, and have had a great time camping with them.

It s nice to " meet"  you

JemJen24Congrats on the pop up!  Have a great time outfitting and modifying it to suit your needs! Tim5055 s web site is a good way to get started.

Enjoy your pop up and this site!

 JemJen24Hi Jennifer,

I sent you a reply to the email you had sent me. Thanks for writing. Since you looked at our site, you ve met Bandy, our Border Collie mix. He loves going camping with us.

Since you re dealing with the same dealer that we bought our Santa Fe from, Western Campers in Fort Worth, I am certain that you will be given the total run through of all the features and setup of the your Yuma.

Terry, my wife, would like to add the following: Take a pad of paper and write down the steps while they are explaining the setup. The notes came in real handy the first time we setup. After a couple of times, it becomes real easy.

Again, please tell the folks at Western Campers, Peggy, KC and Tim, HI for us! Have a great time with your new popup, you re going to love it!

JemJen24JemJen, glad to see you on the board.  If ever there was a place to find out the best way to use your Popup, this is it.  Hope that you get acquainted with all the forums we offer, and that in turn will get you acquainted with all of us!!   Happy Camping

JemJen24Wow!!! Ok...DAVE...I m printing your article (wink wink) out and giving it to my husband.  I think I actually sprouted a chest hair (ping) trying to read that vehicle/brake synopsis.  What a wealth of information! WOW!! thanks!

Chuck n Terry....I sure will pass your HELLO on to the people at Western Campers.  I also emailed you back to pick your brain a bit more.  (Grin)

To everyone else....WOW....thanks for being so warm and welcoming.  If anyone else is thinking about camping at Cedar Hill State Park this weekend, let me know.  It still looks like the weather should be decent on Friday and nice (yet cold) on Saturday.

 Jennifer :)

The Robinsons

 JemJen24Jennifer,

Some of your fellow Texans, here!  Welcome aboard!  We just picked up our pop-up this past Friday.  I was out of town over the weekend and thanks to the wonderful weather we ve been having the past couple of days, I haven t had a chance to get out, pop it up, and play around.  I am thoroughly enjoying this website, though (haven t posted much, since I don t know a whole heck-uv-alot yet).  There is so much information here, it s staggering!  Enjoy your trip this weekend - try to stay warm!

 JemJen24Buffi,

I know what you mean! I m chompin  at the bits!  We are " soposed"  to pick our camper up tomorrow but I m sure the dealership has been closed and I wonder if they can get it ready by then.  And even IF they can, will the roads be clear enough to drive on already?  Arrrrgghhhh.....I ll just DIE if I have to wait another week!!! ha!!![8D]

Gamecock Camper

JemJen24Buffi, welcome to the PUT boards.    We all look forward to your posts as we all have had many questions about camping and pop-ups when we first started.  There is a wealth of information here already and a wealth of information from the many knowledgable members.

 Ab DiverQUOTE:
" With an inertial controller, the rules are changed. You set the controller for the amount of power you want sent to the brakes, and forget it. The controller responds to the situation, sending power to the trailer in proportion to how quickly the TV is slowing down. In other words, the trailer will slowly and smoothly apply the brakes as you approach a stop sign, or instantly come to full power if you slam on the brakes to avoid hitting that deer, inattentive driver, or child that suddenly wanders in front of your vehicle"

LORD, HAVE MERCY!!!  Just when I think I have gotten my courage up to the place where I m thinking " I can do this"  along comes a level of detail that throws me into a tail spin.  So, sombody help me out here -- I have a 2002 Coleman Westlake.  Right now I don t have brakes on it although I know it s wired for brakes.  How do I go about getting an " inertial controller"  and is that the thing to do -- do I just talk to my dealer?  Also, I am buying a new towing vehicle.  I am thinking about a Pathfinder -- is that a good idea?  What, if anything, should I have on the TV to accommodate the brakes on the camper?  And.........please...........speak...................S L O W L Y and  D I S T I N T C L Y -- I am old AND dumb!!!
 Thanks!!!!!

JemJen24Welcome to the fun world of pop up camping & to the PU Times board!  Have no idea how close to home you are camping this first time out but it would be good to be somewhere near home or a decent store (Walmart or the like).  You wouldn t believe how many things we forgot on our maiden voyage almost 4 years ago!  Unfortunately I didn t find this site (if it existed then) until about a year or two ago.  There is a wealth of information to be had from the members of this message board & all are willing to lend their 2 cents - trust me!
