The Overmans

Has anyone stayed at Mustang Island SP inTx?  How is the fishing and how good are the children activities?

The OvermansWe only spent one night there and aren t fisher-people so not sure how much help I will be LOL.  The electric sites are basically one big parking lot. each  " site"  has it s own picnic table and shelter, close enough to touch the neighbors.  If you go for the primitive camping it s literally on the beach. they have sites marked out and picnic tables at each, and are still close together, but y ou see the ocean from your site.  There is no shade to speak of either place other then the picnic table covers. I m not sure how towing a PU onto the beach would work....we re debating for next time.

The beach is really nice (although we re native land locked Mid-westernes, so haven t seen that many) and sandy. Lots of shells to find in the morning and walking to do. We were alone without DS that night, but I m sure he d have a blast just playing in the sand all day.

Corpus Chrisite also has alot of sights that look like they d be interesting, but we didn t have time to check them out. The beach on the island is much nicer then the beach near Corpus (in the bay area ).  I definatly plan on going back again when we have more time, and also to bring DS to the beach. We brought him just before he turned 1, but I d like to see what he thinks now.

The OvermansWent there with plans for a week.  Didn t even stay a night.  Don t care for camping in a parking lot.  Have heard others say they like it but it s not for us.  Click on the site below and then click on " Sites 1-48" .  That will give you an idea.

Ended up driving all the way back up to Pedernales Falls SP.  Spent a week there and loved it.
