RE: How do you view the forum?

I usually have my screen set to " Posts Since Last Visit" . If I want to look back a bit farther, I choose " Today s Posts" . Both of these options appear at the bottom of the " Forums"  page, and can only show a maximum of 50 individual posts by the members of PUT. Any time more than 50 posts are made since the last time I viewed the forum, the oldest posts are forced off the page. This can happen in as little as three hours, and if you ve been at work from 9AM-5PM, forget trying to see everything posted from, say, 9AM-2PM. The only way to find anything " older"  than 50 posts is to view each individual forum and look at each topic.

I miss stuff all the time, only to find a topic of interest if somebody else happens to post to it and bring it to the top of the list again.

How do you " read"  the different forums: stay pretty much on one particular forum (in which case you won t see this post if " your"  forum isn t the Campfire), cruise all the forums one after the other, or use the viewing options on the bottom of the Forums page? Is there a better or more efficient viewing option I haven t figured out yet?

 Ab DiverDave,

I have an icon on my desktop that takes me to the last 50 postings.  I scan those to see if there are any topics that interest me or if someone I know, like AbDiver has posted.

I ll right click to OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW to start those loading.
I ll then erase everything to the right of popuptimes.com/members to bring up the list of all threads.  I ll right click on any NNC rallies or forums that have new additions and start them loading in the background.  Once they are open, I ll read and reply away.

Once done, I ll start the LAST FIFTY again just to see what s new.

Well--at least that s the way I do it....I am certain others have ways that work just fine for them.

 How s the leg?

Yep, I see what you mean, but that actually brings up a list of all *forums*, not threads (topics).

Yep, once again, I see what you mean. There used to be an " active *topics* "  viewing option on the old forum software. You could see which topics had been posted to in *all* the forums since your last visit, even if it was days before.  Is there such an option with this new forum?

And lastly, how do you guys do multiple quotes from the same, or even different, posts? You can see my attempt above leaves something to be desired. [>:]

The leg is doing better, thanks for asking. The brace is off, and I m walking around the house, albeit slowly. Still look like I m doing my best " Festus"  imitation. I can do a two-legged calf stand, but can t do a calf-stand using the injured leg by itself yet. Still feels like I got kicked with a sharp-toed boot. There s a fine line between healing, working it out, and pushing it too far. I m striving to find that line, if you know what I mean. Pass the Advil, will ya?

Quothe the Raven: " Nevermore!" . I m gunna go form up a 30-foot  crete runway capable of supporting an earthmover, a car crusher, or even (gasp) a hybrid, using nothing more than toothpicks, bailing wire, and adobe.

 Sticking with what I know...

 Not that I know of.

Ab Diveris there more than one way?  [:o]

I just go to the general forums page
click on the forum I want to look at
then start working my way down the list until I find what I want or what interests me.

Usually I pop on in the afternoon when DD is resting and sometimes in the evenings while DH plays with the kids.  Unless it s a really slow day at home, then I leave it up and take peeks as I go by the computer.  Hopeless, aren t I?[8D]
