We have kicked this one before but like always it comes back to ya. Trailer Insurance. I have seen pricing from 90-150 dollars but was wondering if amount covered TOTAL REPLACEMENT COST. I am working with Insurance companies now and do not have a good feel for this. DOES ANYONE? [&:]

whitestar505Rule one with vehicle insurance is:

It varies hugely from state to state.  Sometimes it varies a lot within the state.

So only answers from Maryland pop-up owners are going to be worth much to you.

 Whitestar,

I second Austin s comments.  I recently received quotes from AAA and Progressive.  Both were in the $150-200/year range for Actual Cash Value.  Full replacement is only avaialble for the first couple or three model years, I think.  By far the cheapest rate I have received is from our current Auto/Home insurance company.  Our annual cast added to all other policies is less than $100/year.

 4Galvs4Galvs,

You are right. The insurance rates are climbing again. My rate on the car insuance went from 87 to 1

And you were right again, Progress was the way to go through AAA for 200 . That is the way I went. Five years was the Total Cash replacement option. Well I paid more but I think I got a lot more for my money. How many times do you think it would take to hit my Utah at 30 MPH ?[:o]

 whitestar505Hi All,

Here in Texas, through State Farm, we pay a shade under $150.00 for full coverage.

whitestar505I questioned our State Farm agent--a very honest and knowledgeable person--very closely about this and used  the EXACT PHRASE  " replacement value"  and he said NO!  Our policy---the most comprehensive available for our TM--is for VALUE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT  OR DAMAGE.  ie, if the TM is ever totallled, we will get its Bluebook value at time of its demise, not what a new one costs.[:(][: (][:@]

This is the same as it is with your vehicle.  Sentimental value and all the $ you put into it mean nothing -- it s all Blue Book.  HOWEVER, you can fight the amount if you think it s low.  You get your local RV Trader and find a good sampling of the same year and model of your trailer and get an average out of that of what your trailer was worth.  Soooooooo if God forbid one of us lost our beloved pop-up in an accident, all the rest of us can place ads in your local RV Trader, inflating the price, so the fellow pop-upper can use our ads for support of his position for a higher settlement price!  Sounds good to me![;)]
