Ok, I know this has nothing to do with pop-up camping, except for the fact that without these fine folks, we wouldn t have the freedom to go camping at all. So there! [:D]

Received from the family of a friend currently stationed " in harm s way" . Pass it on...

 Military Thanks!

If you are so inclined, visit the  Department of Defense web page below
and sign a brief message thanking the men and women of the U.S. military
services for  defending our freedom. The compiled list of names will be
sent out  to our soldiers at the end of the month. So far, there are
only about 2,806,706 names. What a shame.  There should be hundreds of
millions of thank yous.  Pass the word that we can honor and support the
 defenders of freedom.

Ab DiverThanks, Dave.   Although I have doubts about  the wisdom going to war at this time, I very willingly signed this petition.  Our TROOPS  deserve our prayers and thanks and  respect no matter how we feel about war.  They have promised to do as the Commander In Chief orders and have nothing to say about where they are sent or what they are ordered to do.  I felt the same way about Viet Nam--hated the war, but loved  the  young sons and daughters of America  who risked their lives in  battle (and unlike  Jane Fonda) had no sympathy for our enemies and prayed nightly  for the safe return of our fighting forces.

Ab DiverWhat I find so totally disgusting is that at the Daytona 500 Races just a few weeks ago (my brother was there so he saw this happen right in front of him in line) the US Army was there asking folks if they wanted to send a postcard to bolster the morale of the soldiers and the adults were literally cussing them out and refusing to send them.  Then one little boy walked up in the middle of that disgusting display and said that he would.  What ever anyone feels about this war or any war - those people are OUR FELLOW AMERICANS who are doing their sworn duty to serve God and Country and they DESERVE our loyalty, love and support and to do less is wrong - just plain wrong.  PLEASE show your support to our fellow Americans - those men and women in the service who left behind families, jobs and all the comforts of home to serve us as OUR military force.  It is the least we can do for them that are willing to do it ALL for us at home!

This statement is so very true.  Thank You.

Ab DiverThank you for providing this post.   As I said before, I wholeheartedly support those who put themselves in harms way so that I won t be.

Ab DiverThanks for the heads-up on the site.  Saying " thank you"  seems so small.  I would love to send a postcard or two.  Does anyone know how to find out information about that?

Ab DiverI would also like to know - it seems like there must be another way to reach out and encourage them?

CamperJones

Ab DiverHere is one website that offers to give you a way to support the troups.  [link=http://www.armywives.com/display.htm]The Army Wives Website[/link]

Also, many local Country Music Radio stations are doing them in conjunction with the schools in their area.  The postcard drive at the Daytona 500 was in conjunction with NASCAR so I don t know if it is something you can do unless you are there at the races and fill them out in person.  I will try and find out more information.

Ab DiverThanks for the link, I m passing this one on to others. And I agree, regardless how you feel about war the men and women of our armed forces need to know they are supported.

Ab DiverCamperJones, do you know the date your brother went to the race?  My father-in-law watches these races all the time, but hadn t heard a thing.  This isn t something I d want to braodcast if I was NASSCAR either!  I looked up thier web site, and there was nothing there.  I d really like to know the date so I can write to them and see thier response!

Ab DiverMy brother went to the races held on Saturday before the Sunday s Daytona 500 race.  I think it was the " Busch Nationals"  but since I am not a race fan I am not sure.  I am sure that lots of folks here would know what race was held the day before the big race that was on that Saturday in February at Daytona 500.
If you look at the " US Army"  Nascar website you will see the Postcard Campaign article.  Not everyone refused to fill them out but those that DID should be ASHAMED of themselves for their disgusting attitude towards our military and the vile things that they said.
