I know this subject has almost been beaten to death but I bought a king sized mattress warmer in EBay for $27 and tried it this past weekend.  Amazing.  We set both controls on high about an hour before we went to bed and climbed into a very warm sleeping bag.  Turned the mattress warmer down to about level 3 for sleeping.  What an incredible difference.  No cold spots or chilly feet.  Bring on the cold weather.

TrlrboyThere was only the one that I got I think.  No one was more surprised than me that I got it so cheap.  A kingsized mattress warmer in Linens & Things ran over $100.

TrlrboyI have gotta get me one of these!  DH thinks I m crazy, but I hate cold feet while I sleep.  This sounds like heaven.

TrlrboyOk, what s the difference between a mattress warmer and an electric blanket?  I have not seen the mattress warmers yet, but am curious.

TrlrboyYou sleep on TOP of a mattress warmer and UNDER an electric blanket.

TrlrboyTrlrboy, I figured that out, but is a mattress warmer the same thing as an electric blanket?  The electric blanket that we have on our home bed is kind of bumpy... I don t know if it would be comfortable to lie on, but resting under it is ok.

TrlrboyIt feels similar but seems like there is a bit more padding near the wiring loops, probably because it s designed to have some weight on it.  It also has a wraparound edge, sort of like fitted sheets and it s a perfect fit for the Coleman king size bunk and does not slide around at all and the heating elements are all on top, nothing is curled under.  I think the principal of how they are built is similar in design but since heat rises the mattress warmer seems to more effective than the electric blanket we used to use.
