my4cutiesNOTICE: The following is a parody, and should not be taken seriously under ANY circumstance!!
 Parody begins....
To ensure that children maintain a safe distance from the fire, I like to have it so hot and large that Satan himself comes over and asks me to turn down the heat!!
Also, in order to prevent small ones from falling into the fire ring, stack up about three or four and get that sucker well stoked!! Adding gasoline and other flamable liquids speeds the process!!  Consumption of mass-quantities of beer will also ensure large, hot fires!!!

 Happy Camping!!!    End of parody..

my4cutiesWithout a fire in the evening and some good conversation, it s just not camping.  I also worried about someone falling in, sparks making a hole in the tent, getting burned by a blob of hot burning marshmallow.  There were, and still are, rules about the fire, and they are not subject to debate.

It s not just the fire.  Anyone near by when splitting wood for kindling is also in the hazzard zone.  I m chopping, or my campsite, my fire...My Rules.

Two more rules:  The fire can t start until there is a bucket of water near by.
The fire is out before we go to bed.

my4cutiesWe burn more firewood in the summer than in the winter!  The kids range from 2-11, and they ve just been taught to be careful.  Even the little one understands fire is hot...... not unlike a stove burner, iron, furnace, etc..

We all love having a fire and wouldn t go camping without one.

my4cutieswell...fire safety and quiet time rules kinda go together, by the time its dark enough to have a fire, its time for the kids to gradually settle down...i always had my kids start to quiet down right before dusk, and slowly let them wind down their play and then when it was almost dark, they where pretty much ready for quiet time and bed and we could light a fire safely...but like others, my kids have been around camp fires since they where babe in arms...
