With all the battery talk going on lately, I thought I d go check mine...My first trip this year starts Thursday...[8D][8D][8D]

After completely draining it at the end of last years final trip,  (not on purpose), the only charging it received was from my truck on the way home.  After that, it sat in my driveway with the battery disconnected until last Wed. when I reconnected the battery and plugged the camper into shore power.

Today after disconnecting the battery and waiting for 2 hours, I checked the voltage and the water levels. The voltage read 13.11V and the water level was covering the plates.

If I remember correctly that s where the water level should be, covering the plates, not to the top of the fill holes, and a voltage reading of over 13V indicates a full charge.

Am I correct in these assumptions?

 Thanks...

raven339Yup, You are correct, also very lucky. I baby mine all winter, indoors, charged every month....... They get all the way to 12.6 that s it. But they will run another year.

 raven339Thanks Gary!!!

I d been considering putting the battery on a deep cycle charger, since that s what everyone is recommending, but since it looked good I decided to leave it alone...And you ve confirmed that, thanks...

Actually, I m just waiting for this battery to die, (It s starting its  second year), so I can upgrade from my group 24 to a 27 or 31...

 Thanks again...[:)][:)][:)]

raven339You don t have to wait until the old battery dies to get a new one.  You can get it now and have plenty of power.

 raven339Thanks Tracy...

Yes I could, but my current battery is still good, and if it starts to run low I can reconnect it to my truck with a 20  extension I built and re-charge it in about 90 mins. from my 140 Amp high output alternator with a 30 gal. gas tank...[8D][8D][8D]

Have done this several times...It always comes close to 13V...
