The bad idea was a 18 volt cordless drill from Heartland America for $29.99.  But from the wise post below they warned of it not being made well and not having the power to pop up a camper.

That is what I love about this board, learn before you made a mistake[;)]

NCSunshineWell the drill doesn t list any torque specs so I gaurantee it won t have enough to lift a PU roof. Plus from the picture it s an all plastic unit; so the gearset is in a plastic bousing (won t last very long no matter what you use it for) and the 950 RPM speed says the gearing is too high anyway to get any good torque.
The radios are 14 channel BUT the don t have the sub channels for privacy. These babies won t be worth anything using them in an area where there are more than a few others. This style was obsoleted several years ago. Only good now for kids play things.

NCSunshineI picked up a 18 volt drill from my local auto parts store for $29.99.
It actually has a Coleman logo on it.
Mike is right, it does not have enough torque to raise the roof of my popup.
It is great however for lowering the staibilizer legs.
I have had it for almost a year now, and am very happy with it for all my DIY projects around the house, as it has a lot more torque than my old black & decker 6.2 volt drill

NCSunshineI ve bought two items from Heartland America.  One was that no account 18V drill for $29.99 which lasted about 6 weeks before starting to fall apart.  I called Heartland America and they explained their warranty was for 30 days and that was it.  The manufacturer, from somewhere in China, gave no warranty and offered no parts.  Nuff said?  A piece of junk!

The other item, surprisingly, has held up well.  It is one of those cordless transmitters (can t remember what they are called) which you hook up to your TV and it transmits sound to a set of earphones.  Since I have a bad case of CHS (Can t hear S***) I can put the ear phones on and turn the sound to a level that I can hear without blasting my wife out of the house.  The sound transmits to anywhere in the house (like the bathroom) so I can leave the den and still hear the sound.  So far (about 18 months) so good.

One out of two ain t bad...but not too good, either.  Now I just throw away their catalog without even opening.  When buying serious tools I ve found it best to stick with Sears or Home Depot.  I buy a lot of miscellaneous stuff from Walmart because you can take most anything back for a full refund with almost no questions and you don t have to pay freight to return it.

 Live and learn![8D]
