JemJen24First to Springer 02; that s great, as I literally just booked at Douthat online for July.  Plan a stop-over enroute to NC. Our favorite state park is actually a county park; the cg at James Island just outside Charleston,SC. It pretty much became the standard/premiere we gauge all other cg s against.

I was trying to keep Lake Umbagog a secret.

It has been a favorite of ours for about 10 years.

Gary described it very well but he forgot to mention the excellent bass fishing in the lake and the good trout fishing in the Androscoggin River.

Another nice thing is that you can leave the MC at home.  There aren t any shopping malls in the area.  You will also have to provide your own entertainment as there are no planned activities.

One of the big entertainments is parking along the road around dusk to watch for moose.  By the way, if you are in the area, please drive carefully, those guys are big and hard to see.

Gary, I ll be heading up there on June 18 for 3 days of fishing and then again sometime in July.  Perhaps our paths will cross.

YellowXterra

JemJen24Fall Creek Falls in Middle/East Tennessee Highest Falls East of the Rocky Mtns. Great place its also the largest park in the TN system. Lots to see and do.

Turn Key

 JemJen24JemJen24,
You have got to be kidding with a question like that!  How in the world do I pick one among a hat-full of first rate parks here in Texas.
I know you ve seen my review on Mineral Wells and that s definatly my " local"   favorite for reasons stated.  If I m going to drive a bit, it s a toss-up between Blanco and South Llano River SP s for many of the same reasons I love Mineral Wells.  These two are just in the Hill Country, which is always a good thing!

Starcraft Dad

JemJen24Taquamanon Falls State Park would have to be mine.  Although Michigan has a large amount of beautiful state parks, The falls area can t be beat for the natural beauty and wild life.  Ther is a lot of moose, some bears, bald eagles, coyotes you name it.

The campsite come in a variety of sizes they repaved the roads last year along with upgrading th bath houses.  And the falls themselves, well you would have to look at my pictures on my site and then triple the beauty.  The pix don t do them justice.

Plus YellowExterra is right about Fall Creek Falls.  I lived in Tenn for 14 years and besides the Smokys  (national park) this is Tenn most beuatiful State park.

Gatsmommy

JemJen24Gooseberry Fall s State Park in MN on Lake superior. This one has always been my favorite, and even though TX seems to have a somewhat better park sysytem, they don t have the North shore when the leaves are turning.
