For those of you who have bike racks, the ones that mount to the hitch, how necessary is it for the bikes to hang straight.  I know they sell the bar adapter like for a woman s bike.  My son s bike would need one as well as mine in order to hang straight.  But, we can get them on the rack and balanced even though one tire is higher than the other without the adapters.  Can t really figure out a reason that they need to be straight as long as they don t move around or block turns.  (our rack is a towing rack by JustRite).  Any comments before we fork out another $60 for adapters?

PopUpTrioIf you can get them on and off easily and they don t damage each other, hit the TV, or cause an obstruction when turning you can do without them. My DW s bike and mine went on lot s of different carriers over the years and only on one did we need the cross bar adapter for her s. On that one, one of her wheels hung to low and the PU would have hit it turning.
