I have an Atwood Furnace in my Coleman Williamsburg that blows plenty of heat and appears to cycle properly but this past weekend, it never stopped running the entire night.  On previous outings, even on the chilliest nights, it would periodically shut off ...not this time. Someone had posted a fix to this situation under the old (free) web site but I don t remember what the fix was.  I seem to remember it being a fairly easy adjustment of some sort.  Can anyone help?  I checked out the Atwood websit but it didn t seem to cover the situation the same way the old posting did.

 Thanks

JosephRThere are two adjustments on the thermostat.

One is the temperature which I think everyone understands.  The second is the anticipator which regulates how quickly the thermostat responds to a temperature change.

Off the top of my head I would not think the anticipator would be the problem.  With it running constantly I would think there was some sort of draft on the thermostat causing it to think that the whole pop up was cold.

I remember the directions you are describing for the anticipator and remember a website with pictures.  I ll try to find it in my bookmarks at home.

I still dont think from the way you ae describing it that it is the anticipator.  A mis adjusted anticipator would cause it to get too cold before comming on and too hot before going off, not jst running all the time.

 JosephRTim5055,

Thank you very much for researching this.  That is the post I was thinking of and I agree with you...this is probably not my situation.  After I get the unit back from having the brakes serviced, I ll have to set it up again and see what I can find out.

 Thank you again,

JosephRI just received an e-mail from JosephR (he was a trial member and can not post now):

QuoteYou had responded to the thread and also researched a previous thread about how to re-set the anticipator.   You also answered correctly that my difficulty was probably not the anticipator.   We went camping last weekend and ran the furnace successfully.  I believe the difficulty was a stuck contact.  The owners manual said to run a piece of white/non-gloss paper between the contacts and this seemed to work.  I m guessing there was a slight bit of corrosion or dirt that accumulated over the winter and running the paper between the contacts cleaned them.  Anyway, it worked fine over the weekend and I don t anticipate any more problems.  My trial membership ran out before I had a chance to thank you for your help on line so I hope you don t mind me contacting you via e-mail.

Thanks again and happy camping,  Joe

So, if having problems you may want to check out the contacts also
