Papaso

Just wondering how far you would drive for a weekend trip. Leave Friday after work or maybe sneek out a little early but no earlier than 3 pm, stay Friday night, Saturday, come home Sunday for work on Monday am. The most we ve gone is about 6 hrs to St. Augustine, but usally go about 2.5 hrs to 4 hrs.
 HAPPY CAMPING

PapasoJeez!  2 1/2 hours is further then we will go for a 2-day trip.  I envy your stamina (sp?).  We keep it to 1 to 1 1/4 hours for that short of a trip.  Got to say that we are very lucky in that we have a pretty good selection of SP s within that time limit.

PapasoAbout 2 hrs is the limit for a 2-night trip.  A special event (like fair or something) would warrant special consideration, however......[:D]

PapasoThe close in state parks are about an hour and a half away.  Two to three hours gets a good assortment of Iillinois and Wisconsin state parks.  Last year we went five hours after work for the 4th of July weekend, a great park, we are doing it again this year.

 Let the camping season start!

 Happy camping to all.

PapasoDepends on the reason. Most of our weekend stays are within an hour ana half. But for a PUT/NNC rally... the June rally will be 4.5 hours away from us. Looking forward to that drive, for sure.

Gone-Camping

PapasoGenerally about 2 hours, have gone 3 hours one time for a PUT meet in Westmoreland... [8D]

Anything over that is not worth it for  just a couple of nights... [: (]

Papaso2-3 hours is plenty for us for a short weekend.  Being retired we can usually get off early, even on the Thurdsay sometimes..or stay til the Monday.  It is the traffic more than the distance that we try to avoid.  but like AB we ll go whenever we can.

PapasoThis weekend I will be driving about 4 to 5 hours for the weekend.[:@]  It is longer than I want to travel, but I should have good company.[:)]  We are going to North-South State Park in New York.  It is a Campers Of The Original Colonies trip.

PapasoWe camp midweek instead of weekends and usually drive 35 minutes.  During the summer we camp 2-5 days instead of the 2-4 weeks we camp in the spring and fall when we drive 550-1000 miles to get to a campground.

slowpez

PapasoTwo to three hours but DH only works until 12:30 on Fridays so we can get somewhere and be setup while it is still light enough to see even during the winter.
