......
The sound of the wind thru the Ponderosa pine tress?
 The smell of the campfire?
The smoke gently rising from the fire, and going straight up?
 How many stars there are?
 The crisp clean morning air?

MtnCamperAhhhhh... The smell of a wood fire [:)]
I lit a wood fire in the Weber this past weekend to cook a few Steaks.......I found myself standing over the fire just taking in the scent and warmth. Could have stood there all night if the hungry ones would have let me.

MtnCamperThe only thing I haven t experienced on your list is the yelling.

We hike and snow shoe in the winter. We stop and make a fire. We cook outside and enjoy the fresh clean air. There seem to be more stars in the cold winter evening sky, to me.

I never knock the fact that we experience-really experience- all four seasons and we thoroughly enjoy them all.[:)]

Or the light inside the tent leaves a shadow of everything they re doing.  I remember camping up in the Adorondaks at Heart Lake with my dad and siblings when I was my DS s age.  Making roads in the dirt for my Matchbox cars.  Trying to lure the chipmunks out of their holes to feed them, and the first mountain I climbed.  We use to stay in the lean-to s on the lake, and dad would cook everything over the fire.  He also use to make GORP for our hikes..and being a kid..eating the M & M s first.

MtnCamperHow about the smell of coffee brewing, or the sound and aroma of bacon frying.
 The chirp of the birds.
The caw of a crow.  Then another.  And another.  Then two or three more crows.  Soon, there were 15-20 of them, obviously agitated about some owl or hawk that was directly overhead.  When the poor owl moved, all 20 of the crows would start as fast and as loud as they could, each one with a sense of extreme urgency.
 Well, I had been asleep.

MtnCamperThe first morning fire with a nice cup of coffee.  Sitting next to the fire watching the sun rise higher in the sky.  The laughter around the campfire, etc.   Oh, how I wish I was camping now!

 MtnCamperSigh...........

Yes..... bacon sizzling, wood burning, coffee brewing - the aromas of heaven!

and all this balmy weather has made the camping urge rise to the top of all my primal urges....

 sigh...
