Is your POP UP Mattress comfy enough?  Do you add anything to make it softer?

LovecampingNo way is it comfortable enough alone!  Last year we used an eggcrate foam thingee, but this year we re going to try the airmattress.  I don t think we ll inflate it fully because it ll be to high!  [:)]

LovecampingWe thought that we were comfortable enough but we had the air mattress from tent camping so we added that.  It was so nice to sleep on that we bought one to go on top of our mattress at home.

SactoCampers

LovecampingWe used to use the air mattress and while it was comfortable, we found:

1.) When one of us moved, it woke up the other
 2.) It could get cold
3.) Raised us a little too close to the tenting material
4.) Inflating it was a minor hassle.
5.) It would never stay inflated for a full weekend, requiring me to top it off.

So now we use not one, but two eggcrate mattress pads. One beneath the mattress and one above. It s almost as comfortable as the air mattress, and they do a much better job at insulation. Closing the top is a tighter squeeze than with the air mattress, but doable. We also can t leave the bed made up, but we couldn t do that with the air mattress either.

LovecampingI d like some comments about the memory foam.  Is it really THAT great?  How about the contoured memory foam pillows?  They claim that they keep your spine in proper alignment.

Lovecamping

LovecampingI ll let you know about the memory foam next week.  We bought one  and will get to try it out this weekend.

LovecampingWe ve used a foam pad under an egg crate pad, which were both on top of the " superior"  mattress.  This made sleeping MUCH MORE comfortable!  This year we ll use the 2"  self-inflating mattress under the egg crate --trying to save some packing space.  Also, I ll be adding some Reflectix under the bunk mattress this season.  With the Reflectix & egg crate pad, we should still be able to latch the roof down.  I ll get to you all about the effectiveness of comfort & warmth of the newer arrangement.

 Peace be with you all.

LovecampingTook off the original foam mattress and put down some carpet pad and carpet to lay the air mattresses on. Works well for us.

LovecampingI use a thick mattress pillow that emmulates down...i just love it, cuz my mattress is a spring mattress that rockwood uses...and well i like a little cushioning between me and springs. ;-)

LovecampingThe memory foam mattress pad worked great.  Without it, I would wake up with an aching back.  Since we ve put the Memory foam pad on top of the Coleman Mattress, my back didn t hurt when I woke up.

And, it is thin enough that we can leave it on the mattress when we close up the camper.

Just thought I d share my experience with the memory foam.

LovecampingCamper matress left my back sore[:@]. Egg crate pads are working good but I think we will try the memory foam this year.[;)]

LovecampingBest thing about the jayco heritage / designer p/u s is the 4 inch dense foam mattress.  The first thing i noticed about all the other P/U s I saw was the skinny flimsy mattress that I knew would need " more" .   No need for any more cush with my jayco.

LovecampingOur first trip out we used the egg crate and it improved the so-called, better Coleman mattresses.  For the last trip I found a terrific deal on an inch and a half thick (still lets the top shut with it on!!) memory foam pad at JC Penney.  Oh my gosh, WHAT a difference!   We Both slept better! I m seriously thinking about one of these to top my mattress at home now!
