Anyone getting to camp this weekend?
We are going to take advantage of the nice Texas winter weather we are supposed to have this weekend and the free time before DD is back in the busy high school routines. Time for a break from too much holiday stuff.[;)]

GeneF

StarryartSure wish we could but just a little too much snow on the ground in NH.

In sympathy of those of us who are unable to camp during the winter months, I must make one request of you:

Please have a s more around the campfire for each one of us.  Thanks and happy camping.

Starryart

StarryartS mores for all (Just what I need after all the holiday food!).
Sorry about your snow Gene. We winter camp more than we do in the summer when it is awfully hot and humid around here.[: (]
Heres hoping spring comes quick for everyone.

StarryartJust got back from five days in Florida so we won t be going again this weekend.  Have enough laundry and camper cleaning to last until our next trip.  Weather was perfect - 60 s, campground was perfect, weather was perfect.  Went to Ft. Clinch then on to St. Joe SP.  First time trying to camp two different places and we feel terribly proud and organized.  All went smoothly.  Can t wait for a longer trip.

Starryart[:(]No camping here.  I would like to have an RV show just to go look at camping stuff.  It is getting to me though.  I am planning on taking the PU to the dealer for its spring " tune up"  on MLK day.  I have reservations for 4 trips this spring already made too.[:)]

StarryartThe DH wants to visit his brother, but I d really like to take advantage of this Texas weather as well.  The kids are going through withdrawl....they love camping " because all the rules are different!"   [:)]  Besides, if I stay here I ll feel the need to take down the decorations and (four letter word coming) clean.  Yuck.

StarryartWould love to;thanks! Unfortunately DW has the flu.The weather has finally changed to better-we just went through a two week rainy period, here on the Central California Coast. Now that we have blue skies, and warm temps the lure of camping is strong. Will probably have to settle for a RV show, and schedualed maintenance on the PU this weekend.Have a great time.Don t hesitate to ask us again,in a few weeks.

StarryartNaw, got to wait till the cold weather quits.  At least until the water lines will not freeze anymore.  I love the cold, great for sleeping, but I cannot get the rest of the bunch to agree.

StarryartNo camping here, either, but in two weeks is the Green Bay RV and Camping show. Gotta check out the new models, then figure my tax return. Now where are my tax forms...[;)]

 StarryartWhere ya goin?
Unfortunately our work schedules have not allowed us to get out and enjoy these last few weekends of good Texas winter weather. Hopefully the rainy weekdays and clear weekends will last until our next weekend off together in 3 weeks. My kids are planning to go tent camping at McKinney Falls this weekend(I m Jealous)Hmmmm wonder in the DH would let me take the camper without him--ha ha ha.

 Have a great time

We are hoping to go this weekend. We are in the Texas Panhandle, (Amarillo) not as nice, weather wise, but it is tolerable.

We are planning this summer to take the pop up with us to Houston this summer when we visit the inlaws. What camp ground or state park would you recommend ?

Starryart

 StarryartHi Matt
I am located between Houston and Corpus Christi in Victoria. Most of our camping is done from Houston south to Corpus up to the hill country above San Antonio and Austin. The closest CG to Houston we ve stayed at is Brazos Bend SP. A very nice park but hot in the summer, though it does have the astronomical George Observatory near by. Maybe others can help you with CGs in the piney woods NE of Houston. I have heard some of those are beautiful places to stay.
We are going to Lake Texana SP for the weekend. Very nice...
We drive thru Amarillo on our way to Colorado each summer. Very interesting country up there. Alot of times we have spent the night in the big town of Dalhart[:D

StarryartNot here, too much snow.  Another storm is going to start Friday afternoon and not let up until Saturday night.  Maybe 12 inches.  You gotta love New England...lol.  Can t wait for April 15th!

StarryartWe are going camping next weekend.  Our first trip since September so we are all looking forward to it.  Heading up to Carpinteria State Beach near Santa Barbara.

StarryartWe just got back from 4 nights at the Pine Island KOA in Ft. Myers.  Had a wonderful time.  Weather was great until the last night when we had a terrific thunder and lightening storm.  Luckily I knew it was coming so we moved everything inside and took down the awning before it started.  We were snug as a bug in rug.  Watched movies and ate a terrific dinner I d made in the crock pot.  We did have one other exciting moment on the third night we were there.  My 80 pound greyhound fell out of the bunk onto the ground in the middle of the night [:o]  I d read posts on here recounting stories of small children falling out but I never imagined it would happen to my dog.  Guess he leaned up against the side too hard.  The look on his face was priceless!  He was just standing there in the road, frozen as a statue with this look on his face like " What the heck just happened!"   It took some coaxing to get him back in the camper.  He spent the remainder of the night on the couch.  I m so lucky that he didn t bolt because when a greyhound takes off running....forget about it!
