We just got ac added to the pop up, what is the ac brace used for and is really needed??

jpreiserWhat AC unit did you get?  They are used on Coleman AC units, to stop the shroud from shaking/cracking/breaking.   If you have a Carrier or other brand you don t need one.

jpreiserWhen we bought our popup we ordered the A/C (Coleman Mach).  On the way home from the dealer I noticed that it looked like it vibrated when driving down the interstate.  I pulled over to the shoulder and it seemed solidly mounted but when I got going again it looked " buzzy"  in the rear view mirror.  When I got home I went on line and found that this was a common problem due to air flow through the A/C shroud.  Apparently what happens is that the vibration causes the plastic to eventually stress out and off flies the shroud.  I ordered one of the A/C braces from a company called PopupGizmos (ww.popupgizmos.com) and when it arrived I installed it right away.  It took all of 5 minutes to complete.  On our next camping trip I saw zero vibration.  PopupGizmo brace costs $19.95 (on sale now).  A shroud starts around $97.  Your choice.

Not when you figure how much they must be making on replacement shrouds.[:@]  Actually, you d think some one at Coleman would solve the vibration problem.

This is another one of those times that it s really not Coleman.  The name is licensed to put on RV A/C units.
