Gone-Camping

Well, now that I have it, I gotta equip it right? I ve been spending money that I don t exactly have to do this too!!! Ah well, guess that s why I have plastic! This is my first camper with a bathroom, and so I needed all kinds of things there, sewer hoses, connectors, elbow s, and blue stuff [: (]...

Then of course I had to outfit the inside of the bath with non-slip pad for the shower, a new toilet brush for the house (old one can go in the camper), special TP, mini bath-mat for the mini size bathroom, and added in a fresh water filter too![:D]

I ve also been buying stuff for the galley, like paper towel holders, something to keep the silverware drawer from sliding too far forward and falling into the inside of the cabinet, and a multi-drawer Sterilite unit to help organize things inside my new oversized pantry cabinet.[8D]

Then I decided the little " Coleman Lantern"  tacky lights were not going to be big enough, or enough of them to fit on my new 20  awning, so I bought a 14 light bamboo set with the special little clips to slide into the track with. I also picked up another set of wheel chocks while I was out spending money! [:o]

This is all good stuff, at least until the credit card bills come in....[>:]

Gone-CampingKeep having fun until the bill comes in I say!

Gone-CampingI was out spending on things for our camper this weekend as well.  I got some Yaffa blocks (with drawers) for the closet, some shelves and drawer units for the pantry and other cabinets.  I FINALLY think I have everything organized and where I want it -- with room to spare.

Eh, who am I kidding!?  I ll be fidgeting with things for years to come! [:D]

Gone-CampingWhat I found was to buy one (or two) thing(s) each pay check (I do not use plastic, other than the check card).

Cliff, the camper should have come with the sewer hoses and stuff, including a roll of TP.

 Tip to save money:
My dealer told me that he would be happy to sell me the expensive TP, but that the cheapest one ply you can find is just as good and will save $$$.

Now you need a controller for the lights that has a remote so you can shut them off or turn them on fom inside the camper.

Gone-Camping

Gone-CampingThe sewer hoses and stuff don t come from the factory, those might be included by some dealers. Since I bought from a wholesale dealer who was cutting costs to the bone, there wasn t any extra s other than they filled the propane tanks for me! Not a big deal really, I paid $12,734 for a trailer with a MSRP of $17,540, and sold at our local dealer with less options (after haggling) to " Camping Waters"  for $15,500... So I think whatever I wind up spending on hoses & stuff is nothing compared to what I ve saved..... I think [;)]

Gone-CampingWhy the issue about the kind of TPaper to use?  It goes into the tank regardless of whether it one or two ply, RV paper or not, floats around in water and chemical until it gets flushed out and down the pipe (usually once a day if you re on a sewer hookup, oftener if desired).  Environmental issues I guess.

As for buying stuff, sewer hoses came with the Rockwood, as did water hose.  We bought an extra 10  sewer hose and coupler and then kept things like chocks, etc., out of the Coleman.

Hint:  You can buy the " Sidewinder"  sewer hose support at Walmart for $27.95 or thereabouts, no freight, same as one which sells for $29.95 plus freight in most " Camping"  catalogs.  But another idea is to go to McCoys or Home Depot, or out behind the storage/junk shed, and get a piece of fiberglass rain gutter.  Makes an excellent trough for the sewer hose and takes up very little storage space.  Cut about two 4  lengths and one 18"  length to use as a splice for the two 4  pieces if you need that much.  Run the gutter from your sewer drain (hold up with bungee cord) and then hook up your sewer hose and lay it in the gutter with other end running into the sewer.  If you splice, use a bungee cord to hold the two pieces together.  Works great - just doesn t go around corners like the Sidewinder does (but costs a heck of a lot less!).

Gone-Camping

Gone-CampingEverything I ve read on the TP issue (Tissue issue?) has to do with filling the tank up and clogging the drain hose. Seems that lots of TP will fill the black tank up faster than the " #2"  will.... FWIW, I ve also read from several sources to just use single ply Scott s brand, it s basically the same thing as the " Special RV"  brands and cost only a fraction of the amount.

As for sewer hose supports, you re very close to what I ve looking at. I just can t bring myself to spending $30-40 for something to hold the hose like the Slinky/Slunky or whatever they call the things. I ve looked at aluminum gutter, and believe it or not, white wire closet organizer shelving material (I have access to a metal brake to bend it into " U"  shape pieces.... I could make three sections up to 12  long each for under $10, I wouldn t need but maybe 2 of them at the most considering I only have 20  of hose!!!

I ll have to look into the fiberglass gutter material. Just too many options out there to spend big bucks on simple things. Besides, that takes the fun out of designing and building my own mod s [;)]

 Gone-Camping" Stinky Slinky"

I was at RJ Ranch a week and only dumped once. Everything was liquid, we used the bath house facilitities most of the time (I did all the time). We just had dish water in the grey water tank as it is not really practicle to take a shower in my wet bath.

Cliff, you missed the cheerleader camp...10, 11 and 12 year olds. Jeffrey was really disappointed.

Gone-Camping

Gone-CampingYep, I m sure we could have got Leah into the chearleader thing, and Derek was very disappointed too, he really looks forward to meeting up with Jeffery. Perhaps we ll meet up at Trap Pond, that s if they ever decide on a date that is...[;)]
