Howdy,

Went camping after Christmas and what I found out is I had the only PUP in the park, Saw a Chalet once but other than that a whole bunch of huge fifth wheels. Now my Apache when opened up is about 22 feet so its not small but compared to these moving monsters I felt like a midget. But I tell you what was satisfying when I watched this poor guys spend over forty minutes trying to park a 34ft fifth wheel, and I remember that it took me all of 2 minutes to back in and less than a half hour I was  stretching out in front of a fire. So I guess I say all that to ask has anyone else had this experience or is this a Louisiana Cajun thing LOLOLOL..

It s a POP-UP thing!  I ve seen what you have described many times before in the past.  I once watched a guy take the side off his TT against a tree, backing in to a " TOO SMALL FOR IT"  site.  He was a couple sites down, and about ten folks standing around giving him directions, (or bad advise) as it turned out.  He was determined to get it in there!  He wrecked his TT doing it.

Aint it great to have a PopUp you can pretty much park anywhere!?  I would add that PopUp Owners have a healthy serving of common sense too.  That s why we bought a PopUp in the first place.

 Have yourself a great day!

cartooncaracterWe re lucky our little weekend get-a-way CG is off the beaten path, and road less travelled.  It s not close to any major attractions, just there mainly for the lake.   Usually TT s and PU s (mainly TT s though), but outnumber RV s and 5th wheels.  Starting to see more of the hybrids.  You cann t make reservations at all either, which we think keeps the out of state tourists away (first come first serve...so no promise of a site available).  It s real nice with lake sites w/hook ups, tall..old growth trees for plenty of shade, and big sites.  I hope our secret lil treasure never gets out.

The SP by me was the same way.  I would have DH go out in the morning to get a site for us.  They were never full, even on holidays.  Last year they went on the reservation system and now they fill up.[&:]

cartooncaracterA few years ago we went camping in March at a SP.  We were the only PU.[:D]  We were also the only people camping the first night, the second night a couple in a tent camped on the other side of the campground.  I even let the kids run through all of the other site.[;)]

cartooncaracterEvery year, we are invited to a " condo membership"  cg for their clean-up weekend(free trip with free eats) and a few other weekends. Most of the campers are MH s and 5ers. Love the color combos of the MH s and their " toads" . Mostly older campers from out of state who come for the golfing.
Besides our Pal, our friends Pal, an A-liner, and a Coleman, we are usually the only pop-ups in the cg, surrounded by about 70 other rigs. Nice bunch of people, though, because most started out in pop-ups.
BTW-last year clean-up weekend, my friend s father cut his 5er a little too sharp and put the corner of the rig into the back window of his 2002 F250 diesel.[:o] That was the same weekend my F-150 developed a tranny leak.[:@] Not a good weekend for Ford owners.

cartooncaracterThe cg we spend most time at is the same way.  Usually we are the only PU at the place.  We have 2 RV dealers in town and neither of them even sell PU s.  That is why when I found this site I was so excited that others liked PU camping as much as we do!![:)]

cartooncaracterThere were only two pop-ups in the entire KOA campground when we were there over New Years.  I think that s especially common here in Florida where so many people come for extended stays in the winter.  All you see on the interstate is 5th wheels and motorhomes.  But, when we camp with FPUC.....it s nothing but pop-ups as far as the eye can see [8D]

cartooncaracterI often hear of TT, 5th wheel and motorhome people saying things like, " There s no set up."   If that s so, why oh why is it that when we arrive on site at the same time as them are we all set up and relaxing while they are still fiddling around hooking sewer lines and other " not setting up"  activities?
