Well, on our first camping trip of the year a few weeks ago, we went to Selkirk shores in NY.  We arrived early Friday and had just finished setting up our camp site when in comes an old school bus.  It had been painted white and many of the windows were painted over.

They pulled in and parked their trailer.  Then they come out with 2 dogs that they let run wild and then they bring out the cat and he runs off for day 1/2.

Over the next day 1/2 this trailer comes and goes several times - it s their only transport.  They burned plastic in their fire place; and of course we re down wind of them, and their cat fails to return to their site.

They spend the second night looking for the cat.

On the first night, we noticed that they had no curtains on the windows.  but the trailer (buss) was well lit and we were treated to a XXX rated stage show in their trailer about 3 times the first night and 2 times the second.  Of course it s even easier, because thier trailer is between ours and the showers.

On the second evening, their cat came back and they pulled out around 10:30 - seems like they were only waiting for fluffy to come back and then they could head out.

I don t think these people were rednecks.  I think they were gypsie s.  When they pulled up in their " RV"  I was concerned that we were going to be stuck with the Partridge Family, or the Clampets.  Wasn t prepared for the " Wild Kingdom."

rajones315that reminds of the time when, after having a rowdy evening that lasted until about 3 a.m.....Harry " met"  Sally....several times...and loudly.

BTW, i laughed at myself because (as a Spanish speaker) I sometimes read things phonetically.  so, I saw " rajones"   as rah-hoe-nays and thought that was an unusual screen name until i soon realized it was R. A. Jones

when my cousin came to visit me she told me that she had eaten at the kah-hoon restaurant.  It finally dawned on me that she meant  Cajun

(in case some of you haven t " got"  it, in spanish " j"  is pronounced like an " h" )

rajones315You just reminded me of something I forgot about our last trip last year.  We did have the Wild Kingdom next to us, or at least the Bird Kingdom.  When we pulled in there were all these bird cages on the next site.  A couple of the birds were even uncaged outside.  I think the owners had come to the area for some kind of show.  I had horrible thoughts of them squawking all night or at least having to wrestle my toddler back to our site all weekend.  However, shortly after we arrived, they started covering the birds and loading them up for the night and they pulled out early the next morning.  In the end I was actually a little disappointed we didn t get to see more of them.

rajones315Last weekend some guy was trying to split a 2 x5  log with a wrecking bar and a 16 oz. hammer at 6:30 in the morning.

 Talk about annoying...[&:][&:][&:]

rajones315Love hearing these stories - keep em coming!

Couple years back, a family pulled in next to us on Friday night. Older Chev pickup pulling a Starcraft, and a van following. Pickup had no muffler, and the camper had been painted green with a brush.
Got the camper set-up, using 2 2x4 s to prop up one side. Then they realized they had no firewood, so I directed them to a local seller. Finally, they ran out of food on Sunday, so we gave them some of our leftovers.
Nice family, but totally unprepared for camping.[;)]
