This weekend while setting up in Ft. Bragg, DW plugged the 12 volt light into the hole above the galley, turned the light on and got nothing. The same light worked in all three of the other holes. Any ideas/suggestions? We just ended up streching the cord over to the nearest bunk hole while cooking or using the sink.

champ521My first thought would be to check the fuses.  There are several 12v automotive style fuses in the converter.

It could be the white plastic plug on the outside of the PU (running along the zipper for the canvas) that runs power to the ceiling lights and 12 volt 1/4"  plugs.

 champ521Dave,
From my understanding (I have a similar PU) all the ceiling mounted lights and outlets are powered from the same source.  If one works then there is power overhead.  If the socket above the galley does not seem to work then the problem will most likely be a broken wire in the socket or a broken wire leaving the light fixture that feeds the socket.  If you take the socket apart and there is only 1 pair  of wires (lamp cord like) then that is the final destination for the power source.  If there are two pairs then the power source passes through the socket and ends at one of the light fixtures.  Check for broken wires at the sockets.  A simple soldering job will put you back into business.  There could be a host of problems that will cause this but I ve found that most problems with our PU s are the obvious ones!  Let us know how it goes!

 champ521Dave,

We had a similar problem with ours once.  It turns out there was some kind of zip-tie or scotch-lock stuck inside the female plug.  Dealer found the problem after opening up the plug assembly.

champ521On my Westlake there is a fuse behind the faceplate of the 12V socket...

You might want to check that, I blew it once...Took me forever to find it.
