DH and I  (and my niidji, NightOwl) have been trying to get started on a plan to take off for a while with our campers and head down to FLA.   DH is in cement work, and it usually slows down for a while in Feb, so that he gets a layoff, with unemployment compensation for about a month every winter.   Normally we get our affairs in order at the end of Jan, so we don t have anything to worry about while gone.  We get our taxes done early, and use our tax refund for vacation funds.   Well, Thursday when he got home from work he was kind of grouchy, and finally said, " Well, I don t have to work tomorrow, or any other time in Jan.  I got layed off at the end of the day.  But, I have to go back to work the first part of Feb."    He has to go in to the employment security office again next week, and reapply because the  new and improved  system that they started using this year, turns out not to be so hot, lots of people are actually not getting any checks, and people who have been layed off for months are still waiting.    We haven t had our taxes done yet, haven t got all of our paperwork back yet.   By the time we get things straightened out, his layoff will be done.    And, on top of that, our insurance company is giving us fits wanting all the money back they ve paid for services for my arthritis and surgery and therapy and " chicken shots"  because they say it was an accidental injury.  I ve  been running around trying to make sure I have all the DRS. statements and diagnoses proving that it is deterioration due to the arthritis, and get them to a patient advocate to try to get that straightened out, too.   In the meantime, I m getting notices from collection agencies who want the money for the dr bills.    At first we said, " oh well, we ll figure something out."    But it doesn t look like it s gonna happen.
I shouldn t be whining, I know that many of you are having much more trouble with the jobless situation, but I just had to vent a little.     I have so much to be grateful for, just needed to be human for a minute.   Thanks for listening.

wiininkweKeep your chin up.  On the Doc bills...When Lori was getting collections notices from the hospital, she called the billing dept., and explained the situation.  They deferred the payments, and worked out a plan.  They also sent us a form so we could get federal help in paying some of the bills.  Hospitals usually are pretty good as long as you show you aren t just " blowing them off" , and are willing to work with you.  And remember...just keep thinking..." going camping soon"

Did he file on line?  If not, Be sure he takes a a lunch  the lines can be kind of long.
Because of the switchover to online filing they have cut back the amount of staff in the offices.  Guess I fell into the lucky category, started getting my UE checks right away.
After standing in a line that wrapped around the building. In all it took me about 4 or 5 hrs there.

Don t you just love the runaround insurance companies can give you.  Hang in there.

wiininkweMarcy, he tried to file on line, but got a message saying that he couldn t do that, for some reason.   So, he had to go in and wait in the long, long line, and now they are saying that he has to go back in because for some reason it didn t get properly entered into the computer.     But, things could be worse, so I m going to try to do what I always advise others to do, " Roll with the flow" .
And thanks, Duck, for the good thoughts about the ins company.  The reason this is so frustrating is that most of the bills either were payed by the ins. company, and now they have requested their money back, or they were payed by us because the ins company refused to pay.  They have been sending notices saying that this is a workman s comp accident.   It wasn t an accident, and I wasn t working.   Or, to be more specific, I had left my job because the arthritis and other problems made it impossible to complete the obligations of my job properly.  I wasn t injured on the job, not did the job cause my arthritis or fibromyalgia, they are both diseases.   So, it looks like we re in for a long ride on this one.
I know that things will work out the way they are supposed to.   I also know that it s really nice to have a place to go, and people there to talk to who care about what s happening.

wiininkweDitto Cooncreekers!  I wouldn t think the insurance companies have a leg to stand on in this case, since it sounds like you have all the proof you need.

Take care, and know we re always here if you need to " talk" .   In the meantime, you will be remembered in my prayers as any other dear friend would be.
