Wow...a campground that is NOT underwater!  LOL....Beautiful pictures. Looks like a great spot. We are having rain, rain, and more rain here on the east coast!

I think it wasn t under water simply because it drains well!  We were rained, rained, and rained on all weekend.  If you didn t spend the day wet because it was raining, you were wet because the humidity was so high!  Setup in the rain on Friday, rained out the potluck Saturday (luckily we had just finished eating), managed to break down without rain, but drove home in it on Sunday.
 
 We still had a GREAT time though!  Even the WORST day camping, is still better than the BEST day working.

Okay, I make great fried chicken, but I have to give you kudos for the great pic of the littlest one!  You certainly got her right in the middle of one of her shy smiles.

Though VERY yummy, I must say that the fruity shortcake dessert was my favorite.....that is...next to my mongo bowl of homemade guacamole!!!! he he he

That was northern Texas? doesn t look a think like I remembered seeing when I passed through the panhandle 25+ years ago!!! Then again, even stopping for the night in Amarillo it was still all just a blur....[8D]
 
 It does looke like a great place to go camping though!!!!

well, that is actually EAST Texas.  North TX panhandle is deserty and rocky from what I ve read.

The panhandle is definitely NOT like east texas where we were.  The panhandle is dry and arid, although probably not deserty, but definitely not lush.
 
 I lived there as a kid.  We used to say in the winter, " There is nothing between here and the north pole but a barbed wire fence, and it blew down."   Lots of wind, low humidity, etc, but there is enough water for stands of mesquite, and some other trees.  I want to make a trip out there to Palo Duro canyon, you know take the kids where I spent time as a kid, but we haven t made it yet.

Palo Duro Canyon is a great place to spend a long time.  We were there 4 years ago and have talked about going back ever since.  From the time you drive across the flat TX plains and see this giant crack in the ground open up into a huge canyon, it s just plain impressive.
 
 The campsites are really nice with good separation and October would be a good time to go.  The heat will be much less than the summer and hiking on the many trails would be a pleasure rather than a sweaty chore.
