RE: New 2004 Colemans Arrive in California

I just heard that a dealer in S. Calif received his first shipment of 2004 Colemans. Since he knows I m interested in the Mesa, that is the only unit we discussed. Changes are minor except for some changes to the front storage compartment and the front and rear panels. Sorry, I don t really have any details. I suspect that many of you are closer to the factory and new inventory is arriving daily at your dealers. I m trying to decide on 2003 or 2004 models. But the dealer is a couple of hours away so I won t be going to see him anytime soon.

I had to pick up something from the dealer a few weeks ago (same one as you r edealing with probably, if you re in So. Cal.), and saw the new 2004s that had just been delivered that were lined up out there.  Immediate difference I noticed was the front storage compartment.  It looks separate from the unit and is a gray Rubbermaid type box with plastic latches.  I have a similar set of boxes I keep my Christmas decorations in.   I think the separateness will solve the cracking behind the lid that seems so prevelant, BUT I don t think you ll have access to the storage box from inside the trailer.  The WH is in a separate compartment within this box, which is cool because you don t have to worry about any of your stuff banging into it.  The bottom coloring on the trailers was also gray.   I didn t see any set up, though, so I can t help you there.  
 
 I have a Sun Ridge, which became the Mesa the year after my model.  While I bought it used so I didn t necessarily " decide"  on this model but bought it because it was big enough and the price was reasonable, I m very happy with the floorplan.  Since I couldn t get the S/O dinette, this is the only other model I d get.  Good luck with your purchase!  After you get it, E-mail me and I ll clue you in on a really useful mod we did with the narrow cabinet by the door.

Ok...I wanna hear about this useful mod!!!  []  We had our first trip out in our new Mesa last weekend and we love it!  We picked the Mesa because of the wrap around couch. It was by far the most comfortable to just sit in for us.  The additional floor space you can get with the slide out wasn t a big deciding factor since there are normally only two of us in it---and the dog who will get right in your way no matter how much floor space there is!  []
