We bought our  95 Rockwood PU in 2002. It wasn t used much by the previous owner (my brother)and did a lot of sitting for years. Anyway we got it real cheap and though we had to do some fixin  up I still think we came out ahead.
The canvas and inside is in excellent shape. just some mechanics to work on.
We had to put in a new power converter last fall as the old one started to get incredibly hot and trip off. (Not good!) New converter- no more problems.
Then we had the problem of a design flaw in the floor plan for our model of camper. The door was built very close to the back corner and did not allow enough support for the back bunk when it was pulled out. This caused the back corner to sag back and pull the door out of square where it wouldn t close properly. This was a big, big problem that we anguished over for months. We tried different things to no avail. I decided to call Forest River and ask them for help. After going through several contacts I found someone who knew of this problem. The solution was an extra pole that fit under the bed to the ground- cost $7. Cheap and easy and it works. (Why didn t I call them first? -slaps side of head " DDDUUHHH!" )
The last biggie was the A/C. The camper had a Duo Therm that would not cool the camper like it should. It stayed too warm and humid, and was short cycling (compressor was off more than on). We hesitated camping in any discomforting heat because the AC couldn t handle it. Our old Jayco had an old Coleman mach and it was great, so we knew how the cooling system should feel and the Duo Therm wasn t cutting it. we took it in to our RV service center and they tried to install a new thermostat but it didn t help, so my DH said go for a new Coleman A/C and be done with it. Our dealer subtracted the price of the thermostat work and didn t charge us an installation fee and we got a new A/C at a discount. A/C with heat strip $500. Ouch that does hurt, but we have since camped in blazing Texas heat and humidity and experienced total cool comfort. The coleman has bigger air vents than the old A/C and blows a blizzard. Hurrah!
And the point is.... I think we have solved all of the major problems to come along and we can camp in comfort. Our little PU is finally perfect and we love her! We considered buying a new PU but we figured the $800 - $1000 we put in on her is considerably less than a new one.
See us smile[:)] Let s go camping!!!!!

StarryartIt sounds like you have everything fixed and ready to go. Now go out and have fun camping.

StarryartI agree with Tracy, sounds like you are ready to go!

Being from Texas, I hope you have a set of the Popupgizmos reflective covers for the bunk ends.  It really helps keep things cool.  Bob lives and manufactures them right in Texas!

 Good luck and happy camping.

StarryartYou know, my DH and I were just discussing getting those bunk end covers. That will be next on my wish list.
