 Hello all,

I m new to the site and wanted to see if anyone could help in my problem. We have an 82 Jayco which was bought last year. Have used it numerous times and the family loves it. The seam down the middle as alot of silicone or something that the previous owner applied. It has begun to leak. Any ideas on what I need to use to fix this? Also, has anyone ever replaced the roof on one of these PU s? I have some rot and suspect more than I can see now. I am pretty good at doing all kinds of DIY projects and do not fear the task. Just thought if anyone had taken this on before and had some hints and even pic s. Want as much info as I can from the " PU Pros s"  before this " PU newbie"  decides to take this task of rebuilding a roof on.

 Thanks!!

chrisb59I don t know what you can do about the rotting, but for the silicone, we used a product called " Marine Goop" . We had a leak in our roof where the previous owners had put a bike rack. They also had used silicone. We took as much of the silicone off as we could and filled in all the gaps and holes with the goop. So far so good. The thing about this product is that it is made for boats and is definently waterproof. It also has a UV protectant in it. Hope I helped!

 MPTDATThanks Debby!

We have only been out once this year and when I raised the PU last week to make a few modifications is when I found we had the leak(mattress wet). So I assummed it was the seam in the roof. Well the night before last it came a down pour so I went and sat in the PU (Leak Hunting) and found the leak was not coming from the seam but from the air vent in the roof above the stove. This weekend I will see if I need to replace the vent or just reseal it. I had forgotten about the Marine Goop, it is good. Will probably get some of that fix this leak. Thanks again for the reply!
