When we opened the pop up it seems the AC had pushed in the roof a bit.  The bracing inside of the roof had popped out.  I was wondering if the roof needs some sort of aditional bracing when the AC is installed. If so how do I know if it is braced properly.  The unit was installed by Bass Outdoor World and I am wondering if they knew how to properly install it.  Thank your for any advise you can supply.

ccg1510What brand and model is your trailer?  If it is a Coleman with the ABS roof like my old roof it would have happened to mine.  I had to have the brace repositioned last year.  It was working its way over to one side and would have come down.

 Yes,

Please advise year make & model of both the pop up and A/C.  Most recently manufacturered pop ups already have the required bracing in place but some older models needed to have it added prior to A/C installation.

ccg1510With our  85 Starcraft, we were told that the roof could not support a/c.  That s why we got a new one this year.

ccg1510Thanks for responding so quickly. [:D] I m new to the forum not sure how much info is needed. Okay, we have a 2000 Tracker. (Something you don t see too often, but with little cash and a really good deal, we couldn t pass it up. I talkin brand new $6,300.00 with a queen on one end and a king on the other, an a sofa.) Coleman brand A.C., hubby says it is a 13.5 btu unit. Hope this can help shed some light on this situation we have run into. Want to head to the Keys this weekend. I need alittle salt water in my veins. Thanks

 ccg1510Hmmm,
A 2000, and it has the roof brace?
My guess is, it should be able to support a A/C.

Bass Pro Shop s are (or were?) Tracker dealer s.
So they should know how to install it. But if it s pushed in you better have them look at it.

The A/C should be mounted in the same spot the roof vent was.
I think that s the only place that is framed to support a A/C.

Otherwise contact Palomino/Vanguard they made the Tracker PU s.

ccg1510I d think at this point, I d deal with Bass Pro -- seems to be their problem -- they messed up somewhere.

ccg1510my camper is a rockwood and its braced for the ac in the center of the roof, not over the vetn...the vent stays put.  and i think forest river bought palomino but that would have been after 2000.

Jeffrey

ccg1510They were just bought, probably hasn t even been a year, yet.
So I doubt they would have anything similar to a Rockwood yet?

Palomino roof vents are in the middle.
When I was looking into A/C for my  99 which happens to have a 2000 roof.
I was told A/C had to go in the same spot as the roof vent.

As far as I know Tracker s and Palomino s were the same except for the stickers.

ccg1510yeah...thats why i said after 2000.  our roof vent is in the corner so we get to keep it...thank goodness...cuz it sher is nice when the weather isn t too hot. but it would appear that our roof is reinforced centered side by side and more towards the back than the front....
