although my KIA has free road service, i finally re-signed up with AAA and got the RV plus.....someone painted a very vivid picture of an abandoned PU or $$$$$ to pay for towing the PU if your TV breaks down.

 What did AAA charge you?

fintastic5No RV insurance that I m aware of will replace a used RV (even if it has only 5 miles on it) with a new one.

We ve had State Farm insure our popups for the past 7 years and when we had a wreck with our Rockwood they paid right out of the NADA retail value.  Could not have been happier.

fintastic5That seems to be the issue also w/ USAA.  If the put is totalled they will only pay book value & not the retail value of the camper.  If another insurance company is better then I would switch the put to them.

fintastic5I have Safeco which also insures our vehicles and home.  $ 34 per year takes care of everything.  I was so shocked at this crazy low rate , I called agent to verify..sure enough.. they have so few claims on these things I guess and if you only have had one filed in 30 years of driving....well, I guess that helps some..

fintastic5We went through RV America s website and let them do a search on the best insurance for us.  (Hey, it s a free service and we got a couple different quotes) We got a fantastic quote from Progressive, covers the PU towing, sitting, and all sorts of other stuff..will pay to have it towed somewhere if the car breaks down, hotel costs if you re away from home, insured in Mexico (not that I have plans to go there...but it was included <G>)   and a bunch of other stuff. It was about $125 a year for the brand new PU.  I took the copy of the policy over to my State Farm agent who I love and have delt with for many years on all our cars, house, etc. and she said State Farm couldn t come close to the coverage we were getting with Progressive.    It s one of those things you have to have but certainly hope you never have to find out if it s a good policy or not!

I don t know of anyone elses experience with Progressive, but last year oldest DD was in a car insured by Progressive when it was hit.  Progressive refused to pay her medical bills because we had car insurane (it was not our car, she was not driving).  Our insurance had never heard of that and the fight began.  Our insurance paid and left us out, and they pursued Progressive.

Then this past February, someone came down our HILL with bad weather and hit her car[:@] (actually it did end up involving our neighbors car and 1 of our other cars by the time 2 other cars came down the hill), but the car who hit our DD s car was also insured by.....Progressive -- and here we go again.  They came out and " totaled"  her car.  We got a second opinion from our insurance, value of her car was $1,800, damages a little over $800.  So our insurance covered and just called about a month ago and asked if we still wanted them to go after Progressive.  So we said of course since we had to pay the deductable.

Bottom line..... I hope you don t have any trouble with the insurance if you have to use it.[:@]

angelsmom10Yeah, thanks Nancy...I hope we don t either. I ve heard both great and horror stories from just about every insurance company I ve looked at so I guess all ya can do is pray its not something you ever find out!
