 Hi All,

After spending four days at Turing Stone here is my review. OutStanding, Very OUTSTANDING! What I have to say can not do this place justice. Of course it is part of the Oneida Indian Reservation, Mohawk River Area. They have a Casino and huge hotel. The Casino has a shuttle bus from the camp grounds to the Casino if you want to roll the dice. The Casino also has top names form all over the country for entertaiment. This also includes children shows.

For some of you, this would not be the place to camp because it is like camping on a fairway of a Golf course. All the grounds were manacured and had flowers and new trees with a fishing pond. It was so clean I felt like I died and went to heaven. It was very quiet, and the main building looked like a small shopping center. In the main building was the lawnermat, TV room, camp office and store, and a get together room. All kinds of game equipment was available. They had a full size pool, all kinds of courts, and a well stocked fishing pond.

All of the camp site courts are the same with one exception. Space! Some of the courts are larger then  others but all were very nice. Here is the web page for the camp grounds http://www.turning-stone.com/  Go into accommodations RV Park.

 More to come..

whitestar505ahhh thank you this place looks great!! one question... there seems to be two campgrounds there.... which one did you stay at???

whitestar505

 jpreiserjpreiser,

The RV Park is where we stayed. I did not know at the time the was another. In fact I don t beleive there was. Could be wrong... I see what you are talking about on the web. If it was there it was a good secret...

Calling on AAA there is another campgrounds north of the interstate 90. I did not go there....

whitestar505Hi, thanks for the info, yes they seem to have 2 campgrounds one looks as if the sites are hugh and say it is more for tents, pop ups etc. more rustic, while the other seems more resort like, they both look great... How long did it take you to get there??? We are in south Jersey....

 jpreiserjpreiser,

" " How long did it take you to get there??? We are in south Jersey.... " "

We did not go directly to that location but it is fair to say about 6 hours. I am not sure how you are going from NJ. If you are from the south NJ area as you say, you might get on interstate 78 to you get to interstate 476 up to interstate 81 to Syracuse and get on interstate 90 east. From Syracuse to the Turning Stone exit is about 30 miles. This will bypass the New York City Area.

I am jealous that you are going to something I missed out on. I did not even know it was there until I looked at the web page when I got back. Of course It was never in my plans to stay there when I left home. [:(]

whitestar505The second campground is formerly the KOA that was in the area.  The Oneida Nation bought it last year and are refurbishing it.

Judging from the main site, it should be real nice.  I hope they leave the trees tho.  The one campground is has very little shade.
