Monday We went to a campground about 65 miles from here, It s down a dusty bumpy road for about the last 9 miles, When we arrived I did all the normal stuff. Except, when I went in the camper, NO POWER. Now I m a long way away from anything, I really don t want to go home, I checked all the fuses, fine. Out comes the old multimeter, power at battery... OK.... Power at disconnect?.... OK.... Wiring looks good into the frame.... Fuses at converter....OK. Hmmm.

Then I took the box off the back of the converter, on a SanteFe there is a chipboard box, accessed under the seat, Inside this box at the very back of the converter is a big white plug-in, or connection. As soon as I touched it, I heard the water pump. Never have I been so glad to hear that sound!

So if you are powerless, check this plug-in! Mine had rattled loose going down the bumpy road.

MtnCamperIt s a good thing you are able to troubleshoot down to that level!  You DA Man

MtnCamperThanks for posting this trouble spot.  It is always good to know where to look for problems.

MtnCamperAnother thing to check is the safety cut-off switch.  We set up the Taos this past weekend and also had no DC power.  After opening the cover of the converter, and thinking (maybe it was swearing - one or the other) for a bit, I remembered the safety cut-off.  It turned out the hose from the stove didn t slide all the way back into place when I set up the kitchen.  It was just high enough to keep the switch from engaging.

A lesson to always remember to check the simple things before you start rewiring your PU.

I do not have 12v power in the Bantam, Dealer checked out the Battery and it checks out fine, does anyone have any idea where I would find such a plug in the Bantam? Electricity is not one of my stronger suits.

Since I do not have a swing down galley, I have eliminated that [;)] as a problem. Battery is connected correctly and connections are tight.

MtnCamperMine is on the backside of the converter. If you can, see if you can get to the backside, where the shore power cable connects to the converter. That s where it was. Either remove a cover, box, or access thru a bench or whatever. There were 2 screws holding the chipboard box over mine. It s a cover, just so you don t stack stuff on it or all over the converter.

MtnCamperthanks for the advise, I ll have to try to see (feel) this weekend. My converter is basically on the back wall under the back bunk. This is also where the Electical 30 amp cord fold into.

Behind the kiddie dinette there is a hole, found the hole, but too much stuff on the dinette right now and it is too hot in the camper to move a lot of stuff and reach back into the hole hoping that no critters have moved in to sting me to feel for a plug, I hope the convertoer does not " bite"  me (do not have 30 amp service out side to run the air, infact I am running an outdoor extension to a shed that has been adapted to electic with a 5 plug surge supresor, that is just how much we know about electric...plug an outdoor extension behing the washer, runit out the dryer vent over the drive into the first shed, pluged into surge supressor, then another out door extension to the next shed, into another surge supressor and again repeated in the little (Jeffrey s) shed. The only thing we really run off all this is lights and when I plug the camper in, I unplug the light in the little shed, and all I run inth camper is the fridge and an occasional light...soffisticated setup isn t it)
