SltrawickI was wondering how a thread on Banned members could get two pages long. Especially since we haven t had any members Banned as of yet.  To my knowledge anyway, which doesn t lead to whole bunch of squat.  However, I was in a band since Grade 4 so can I join. [:)] I prefer the Alto Sax but do play most brass instruments, except the French Horn, anything that you ve got to stick your hand up to play isn t my cup of tea[;)]...so what genre of music are we going to play...Pop Goes the Camper...What Goes Up, Must Come Down...A Camping We Will Go...or of course...Greasy Grimmy Gopher Guts![:)]

 it s a cryin  sin
 Ride a painted pony

 Someone s waiting

 spinning wheel,
 spinning true
Drop all your troubles by the riverside

Well we may not have any banned members, but we have enough guitar players to form a band. We could be The PUT Campers Guitar Crusaders. Or Not.

Bill,  I can now play the 12 bar blues (after only my first guitar class--it ain t pretty but I can play it!) Can I be in the band too?  I could even sing if we were really hard up. I was in choir all through high school and I now sing in my church s choir, but if my guitar playing didn t get you, my voice would certainly finish you off!  [:D][:)][&:]

Great!  What key?  Yes, you can join. Heck I ll even let Sacto join[:D]

Hey, I meant to suggest you put a light gauge set of strings on your guitar until the fingers get a bit more broken in. You loose a bit of volume, but that s no big deal.

bikoleeIt s E, A and D (is that the key of E?)  The first time I gave it a try, it was downright ugly.  Stepping on a cat s tail and listening to it scream would have been a welcome respite from the notes that were coming out of my guitar.  I ve been practicing every night and it s better now, but I m still a ways away from going on tour.  [;)] Fortunately, my fingers have toughened up so playing doesn t bother me anymore.  The callouses are almost like a badge of honor now!

That would be the key of A.  A is the 1, D the 4 and E the 5.  Have you heard about the 1 4 5 ? Key of E would be E, A, B. The B being a barre chord. Just waiting for those aren t ya?

Sltrawickhere we are--Toni and " Elisa--together at last!!  Yep, Toni and Rick arrived in northeast GA a bit after 12 noon  after driving all night long and Rick and Billy have been enduring our awful jokes and silly talk ever since.  They spent the afternoon terrified, as T and I went off alone  to Wal-Mart WITH CREDIT CARDS and spent 2 or 3 hours (never mind how much money!)

Toni just told me she is the champeen Dutch-Native American accordeen player of Grand Rapids Michigan.  Me, I took piano lessons when I was pregnant with Alice and SHE is musically gifted, but none of it " stuck"  with me.  (Actually I have a guitar, but  have kindly refrained from playing it where anyone else can hear me.)  So I have been BANNED from  the BAND  (there now--I have confessed, and now it is TONI S CHANCE.   Ah....methinks I hear the notes of Lady of Spain coming from her " air accordian"
 =====================================================

Well, I thought I would never get a chance to talk!!    Yes, Lady of Spain was my biggest hit on the accordian, many many many years ago, and the only reason I got to learn how to play it was because two of my older cousins were learning (at the insistance of their mother) and my mother was not gonna let them accomplish something without some input from her.    So, they found me this teeny little squeezebox, and stood me between the guys, and we had to perform for family gatherings.   I would assume that qualifies as a band.     If that doesn t allow me in, is there a classification for shopping?   I can do that, and Elisa and I had plenty of practice this afternoon.    If nothing else, i may need a place to stay, as my DH is starting to show signs of eye rolling and head boobling from trying to figure out what Elisa and I are up to.

Rick says he is very talented at spoons, and would like to join the section that the spoons would be in.  (I m not sure what you would call it, but they usually sit near the Kazoos and the combs with tissue paper.)    My Grandpa used to play the saw, and the occorina, and we re thinking that maybe we could start a small group dedicated to the advancement of those instruments.    With the accompaniment of the Cukoo clock for effect.

SltrawickOk, this reminds me.  Whatever happened to the DO parade at last year s Eastern Rally?  Surely this would qualify a bunch of us!

(if not, can I borrow a clarinet from someone and see if I can remember how to play?)

I can make various musical sounds thru different bodily functions...can I join?

Ian, I think this  " talent"  would DEFINITELY get you BANNED from the BAND![:o]

Oh please den mother?  With a good size can of beans...I could do a full concert.  With that and DW s " " squeeze box"  that she wears on her chest" , we have a good shot at making music all night long.  [:D]

p.s...DS got an electronic keyboard with built in microphone...can he join?

 SltrawickJoann,

I am doing the same thing, trying to teach myself the keyboard.  I can now play the Star Spangled Banner.  It is not too easy.  I need my kids to mark all the notes in the music books.  So, I am banned from the band since I am just learning how to play?

Wayfarer

bikoleeI used to play on the radio, but my mom made me get off cause I was scratching up the top.  Had to play on the floor.  Wahhhh[:(]

67_Skamper

WayfarerI was head of security/bouncer for a bar band back in my wilder days, so if anyone needs to be showen the door then just let me know.  So course all I ever really had to do was keep those who had a few to many from knocking over the speakers, or trying to get on stage.
