We went to Cedar Point in Ohio last week. What an amazing amusement park. I highly recommend it as a destination if you like amusement parks. The new ride for this year is a coaster which goes from 0 - 120 mph in 4 seconds and shoots you basically straight up 410 feet and then almost straight back down.  There are also a whole bunch of other roller coasters which were huge and an indoor one similar to Space Mountain along with regular amusement park rides like the Matterhorn, swings etc.  They also have shows for those not into the rides - my wife saw Snoopy on Ice.  My son and I saw a high diving show.
Interestingly enough, unlike some other amusement parks, the exit of each ride did not make you go through a souvenir store. As a matter of fact there were not that many souvenir stores in the whole park. Seems like more of the park was dedicated to rides than to stores.
 We would definitely go back.

pcasey250How long did you have to wait to get on the rides? We went to Kings Island last week. I paid $180.00 for a two day pass for three people and ended up standing in line for a half hour per ride,

pcasey250Cedar Point is the best park in the country.  We get season passes every year and go to it several times.  We only live about three hours away.  The campground is nice but the sites are very small and there are no campfires pits but BBQ grills.  But the main attractions are the coasters.  If you are a coaster nut like my kids and I, this is the place.  The Top Thrill Dragster (420 feet tall) is the most amazing coaster to ride.  My legs were shaking for over an hour after riding it.[:(][:)]

You will encounter long lines depending on the ride.  TTD lines have been known to be up to 6 hours.

pcasey250Half hour lines would have been a pleasure. Most lines were over an hour. The Thrill Dragster was the worst (as expected) with estimates generally at 3 hours or more.  We were told the best to do would be to get on line right before the park closes as the ride would stay open until those on line got a ride. We did that two days in a row and the wait was about an hour and a half. Of course, that meant not leaving the park until after midnight.
They have a freeway pass like the Disney speed passes but you have to get their relatively early before they are all given out. With one of them for a different coaster, we only waited about 10 minutes when the regular line was over an hour.
