Last season I had a roof leak.  The roof leaked near the front of the trailer right down the seam in the middle.  I dutifully stripped the old sealant out and re-sealed the seam on the outside.  I thought I had fixed the leak.

Well just got back from a trip.  It didn t rain until almost the end of the 1 month journey.  Lo and behold it was the same spot.  The sealant looks OK.  Interestingly, my Jayco Eagle 12SO has a plastic strip that runs down the middle on the outside.  The strip slips into a slot and is sealed down both sides to the trailer.  Looking at the strip and channel it runs in there is a downward bulge and then it bends over the edge of the trailer (it isn t flat).  Water pools in the low spot.

My question is whether I should try applying sealant to the plastic strip itself?

 Thanks,

stopecatTalk to the folks at Jayco. IIRC you can and should pull the strip to caulk the roof correctly. It s been about 15 years since I had to do it on one of mine so the details are fuzzy.
