Hello all!!  After the 14 HOUR power outage yesterday, we are buying a generator to run the A/C.  We have a 13,500 BTU Dometic DuoTherm and I have literally tried all day to find out how many watts it uses so I know what generator to buy.  I called Dometic directly and spent close to an hour on hold and gave up...  Any one know this info???  Thanks!

Gone-Camping

 copcarguyWell, they plug into a 20 amp circuit, so doing the math 20a x 120v = 2400watts

copcarguyThanks for the quick reply Gone-Camping...  I should have mentioned that this A/C is the one in my TT not the PU.  It is wired with a thermostat and is ducted throughout the trailer.  I also know that motors can use a LOT more power on initial start-up than when they are running.  (surge vs. constant)  I am so frustrated with this.  I have called everyone - from the dealer, to a service center, to Dometic directly.  You would think that being this is installed in an RV that this information would be readily available.  Anyway, I thank for very much for the reply!!  [:)]

copcarguyI can tell you this, all three RV AC manufacturers recommend 4 KW peak power to gaurantee starting of 13.5k btu units.
If you go on the TT,5er, and class A boards the hot setup for camping is 2 EU2000 Honda set up to run in parellel. Their advantages include the low noise and portability.
If you re talking around the house you can get a " contractor"  grade 4KW genset for probably less than the price of one EU2000. You won t pick it up and it won t be quiet.
