I de just thought I de ask (yes...just started laundry..and found my DS s harmonica in one pocket (Yes..a guy that does laundry...I cook, clean, do dishes, etc.  Lori says I make a good wife)).  The usual fair for DS is rocks (he s becoming quite the rockhound), crayons, coins, chapstick, lollypop, hot wheels...etc.  What are some of the things you find in your kids  pockets when you do laundry?  Anything wierd?  I almost found a bug..but stopped DS from trying to keep him as a pet.

rednekrubbrduckI have cut down on the stuff I find in the washer when I started keeping or throwing away anything that is left in a pocket.[:D]  This includes DH to.

Turn Key

rednekrubbrduckOur youngest (now 26) had a habid of leaving money in his pants pocket.  Started as loose change but as he got older he graduated to folding money.  My DW use to ask him if that was a tip for for doing his laundry.

To be honest, I m not sure if he has ever gotten past that one[:D]!

 rednekrubbrduckThis wasn t a kid...

An old friend came by after being out hunting.  He had become quite wet, and we decided we d put his down vest directly into the dryer to dry it out.

After about ten minutes, I realized the noise it was making, and asked him if he had rocks in the pockets.

" Oh NO! My shotgun shells!

We made a mad dash for the dryer and pulled the shells out to cool.

It was a most exciting 15 seconds.

Starcraft Dad

rednekrubbrduckMy youngest DS had a bad habit of putting leftover McDonald happy meals in his pockets.  Mostly fries but we have found hamburgers also.  Nothing like finding a pair of pants stuffed in a corner with petrified burgers and fries in them.

got woody?

rednekrubbrduckIs that a McNugget in your pants or are you just happy to see...

rednekrubbrduckIt s not what you do find...it s what you don t find!   Two weeks ago one of the kidlets left a red crayon in their pants!  I was not a happy camper, I didn t find it until I took the clothes out of the dryer![&:]

rednekrubbrduckDS (at about age 8) once found a common garter snake while camping, and when he asked if he could bring it home we told him " NO!"    Well, he brought it anyway, in a dirty sock in the dirty clothes bag.  But then he sort of forgot about it, and while I was sorting thru the clothes the next morning, he casually wandered in and said, " You haven t seen any snakes around here, have you?"   I just shook my head, not really paying attention, and he continued to walk around looking at all the corners, etc.  Then he went and asked DH, " If you were a snake, where would you hide?"    DH was paying more attention than I was, and asked him if he thought there might be a snake hiding in the house, and then an all out search got started.  We couldn t find the snake anywhere, til our DD came home and took her shower, and started dressing to go out.   When she picked up her belt, it was laying there all coiled up, like it thought it had found it s mama or something.

rednekrubbrduckBeing a picky eater as a child and having parents who firmly believed you stayed at the table until you finished your dinner, my pockets were often full of mashed potatoes, peas, and, my all time favorite, liver and onions.  Funny thing was that my mother never mentioned it to me - you would think it would have been easier for her to give up on trying to force feed me than face that mess every laundry day.  Ugh!

rednekrubbrduckFor the most part, DS and DD manage to empty their pockets.  It s DH that ya gotta watch out for.  Business cards, tissues, money[:D], candy, pens and once his cell phone (one of those little star tacs).

rednekrubbrduckDead worms & dead minnows!  Last summer DH & 7 year old son went fishing a few times while we were camping.  Each time I d find either dead worms or dead fish in DS s pockets on laundry day [: (]
