Have someone go inside, and someone under the camper. Now shine the light around inside the cabinets and fill the holes. I think you ll be surprised how much light you see.

Decon the inside. The little mouse trap, eat, die, and dry thing. That way if you miss one, it won t smell.[: (]

Mahaffey-FamilyCedar smelling moth balls will work ...... Not the usual ones, CEDAR smelling ones.

Mahaffey-FamilyWhen you do the flashlight test for holes be sure that you open each door.
friends lost a matterness, one curtain and tenting due to mice this spring.  Their insurance paid for everything except for $100 and they were camping with us two weeks later.

Boy they were lucky.  This has been talked about quite a few times and no one has been able to claim on insurance.  Find out what type and who they have their insurance with.

Mahaffey-FamilyI always put a box, I just open the top, of mothballs in the entrance to the PU.  I don t sprinkle them around.  I also clean everything so there aren t any crumbs or other stuff that would have a scent left in the PU to attract the mice.

 Mahaffey-FamilyTracy,
Does it really keep the mice away?  I am going to try this.  In the many years of having a pop up I haven t had any mice.  Thank you everyone for your advice.

Mahaffey-FamilyMy friends insurance is thru their home owner s policy but I just found out another detail.  Her aunt works for the insurance company which may have made a big difference.

This could have been it.  Our insurance told us that mice damage isn t covered, however if we were camping and got damage due to some animal, then it would be covered.

Guess if we get mice damage, we ll say a racoon attacked the canvas[;)]

Mahaffey-FamilyJust 2 weeks ago DH and I did the flashlight test and filled all the holes with the expandable foam insulation. It worked great. We even took the panel behind the shower out and sealed the holes around the pipes. Also use brass wool pads (available at marine stores, won t rust) and place them in the electrical cord openings and any small openings that would leave access to the camper for the mice. Hope this helps.

Mahaffey-FamilyI didn t have any help with the flashlight test, so I couldn t do it.  I did put 24 cedar moth balls down, 1/2 can of crystal moth balls and an open box by the door.  I took a little bit of everyone s advice.  I hope I can stand the smell in the camper when I open it up in the spring.

Before I did all this I cleaned out the 5 nests of t.p and p.t and tissues,  I put in 5 traps where the nests were and  only caught 1 mouse.  I don t know where the rest of them went but, I can t find them.  I hope they are gone.

Mahaffey-FamilyI have heard from a friend who s camper sits out all winter that he takes a box (100 ct.) of dryer sheets and spreads them around the camper.  He has also used hedge apples that seemed to work but he had to put them on tinfoil to keep it from staining.
