[font=" Comic Sans MS" ]We camped here in October with the FPUC.  It was our first outing in the pop-up and the first time we camped in a Florida state park.  This is a great place.  Lovely wooded sites, paved bike trails, water & electric, dump station, decent restrooms with showers and pretty darn cheap.  The entire weekend cost about $24.00.  They also have horse camping available if you re so inclined.  We saw lot s of folks coming in with horse trailers.  This park is also dog friendly so be sure and bring your pooch along!  Here s a link to the parks website: http://www.dep.state.fl.us/parks/district4/highlandshammock/index.asp

Since you've not stayed at one of our many OUTSTANDING campgrounds in FL before, you have a lot to look forward to.   :p

I've been to many in FL since I live here and have camped for decades.  This one was sub par compared to the others I've been to.

I have a detailed review, along with pictures of what I didn't like, at this link: http://www.2manytoyz.com/hrsp.html

It used to be great.  It has the potential of being so once again.  But a lot needs to be fixed.  The rangers also need to patrol the campground after quiet hours as this had become the local teenage drinking location the last two times we went.  I sent a message about my experiences to the FL State Parks group through their online campground report card link (on their homepage).  Never got a response.  I've talked to several others since who've noted the same problems.

As I said, you'll really enjoy some of our other parks if you liked that one!
