Has anyone here wired a Prodigy brake controller to a Dodge Dakota? I'm looking for advice and/or info as to where I tap in for 12V and brake sensor wiring.

I have an 01 Durango so this may not be the same, but since the two vehicles share so many of the same parts, ours may be the same. There is a plug under the dash that the unit plugs in to. Mine is located up in the very uper left corner of the dash, behind the emergency brake assembly. I had to unscrew something (the fuse block, I think). in front of it to access it. Then you connect the wires and mount the unit. It took me a half hour to install the unit.

Tekonsha makes a cable for most every tow vehicle, so you may want to look into getting one.  I got one for my F-150 and the install was a snap.

Good luck

Thanks guys... I went and ordered the OEM harness from tekonsha.  Great having folks here that provide real help!

Getting the plug that matches your vehicle makes the Prodigy plug and go.  It is the simplest way to wire your brake controller, if you have the plug built into your vehicle. :)

Tracy;
  I should have the plug, as I ordered it with the heavy duty pkg and the trailer tow pkg.  (Read:  the truck isn't here yet... I'm hoping later today it might be in).  I ordered the tekonsha prodigy OEM wiring harness (part # 3020) which is supposed to just plug in and go.
  Once I know that works, I will move on to finding out whether or not the 7-way truck plug center pin is powered to deliver a charge to my battery as I'm driving down the road.  I have my fingers crossed on that one.

  Geesh... waiting for the new TV... is just like waiting for a new PU!!!!

Well I hope you get it soon.  The wait seems to last forever. :)

Geesh!!!!  I don't believe this..... I'm still waiting for the truck to arrive.  They must be paddling it across from Newfoundland.... by hand!

aaaarrrgggGGGGHHHH!

It better be here Monday!

** UPDATE**

Ok the truck finally arrived.... SUNDAY! (my God it took a long time)

Being as this thread was initially about the hitch wiring.... I received the Tekonsha Prodigy wiring harness on Monday. It was installed shortly after arriving home with the new TV. It was a simple plug-and-play affair. Took maybe 10 minutes to find the plug receptical in the truck... 5 seconds to plug it in. What a sweet system.

Now I can't wait to check out how she (the TV) tows
"JiffyPop". I suspect it will be smooth as silk.
