Well I've heard it called all kinds of things on All Hallow's Eve, Mischief Night, Cabbage Night, etc.... any hauntings or happenings in your neighborhood??  Several neighbors left out "decoy" little pumpkins so the kids who are out can get their jollies squashing those in the street...haven't seen anyone toilet papered yet...but we have to go through till tomorrow morning!!  As long as no real damage occurs I don't mind it and luckily we are in a pretty quiet neighborhood.  When we were younger we use to go out in our own neighborhood, but of course we were too stupid back then to realize, next day our own moms and dads had us tidying back up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right now my DS is busily working in the kitchen carving his pumpkin into Sponge Bob for a pumpkin contest at school tomorrow!!

Tell your son good luck in the contest. :)

I think I would rather go on a cyber campout, instead.  There's a 6-9pm thing for trick or treatin' in this area and curfew of 10pm for people under 18 in town.  If you have your lights on, then kids know it's a signal to come to the door.  I used to make rice krispy treats and brownies, but some parents might not trust that anymore.  Too many weirdoes have spoiled the fun for me.. the great cook.

We called it goosey night.. not sure where that came from.. My boss tried to do the old ring the door bell and run trick but the dogs quickly alerted us before he could even get up the driveway!! I wish our town had certain times for trick or treating... we get them from 4 pm up till 9 or so .. or when ever we turn the light out...

Way - Way back when we used to call it penny night.  A few of the neighborhood kids would go to their friends doors on the 30th and were given a few pennies (at that time, we thought the world of a penny -- penny candy:D ).

As time went by, it was called "damage night", anything from TP, soapy windows, pounding on windows and running, smashing pumpkins -- minor mischief stuff.

Luckily nothing like this has ever happened to us.  Now a days, you could get shot for trying pranks.

We've lived in our house for 20 years and when the kids were younger we'd take them to their GM's house as DH grew up in the neighborhood and knew all the neighbors and trusted.  When the DD's got older and didn'tt either need us or wanted to go out, we stayed home with candy, but only had a very, very small handfull of kids so we just decided not to do it anymore.

Youngest DD last night informed me that a large group of them are going over to a friend's neighborhood and going out tonight:o before their party.  Seems their neighborhood has mainly teens and they go from house to house there.

We had no problems last night, but as a precaution, we squeezed our two cars and my mother's car (that we have while they are in France) in our driveway and off the street.  A house down the block got tee-pee'd.  THAT usually only happens when you tick the kids in the neighborhood off or the people who did it know you... Haven't heard or seen anything else in our neighborhood -- thank goodness.

We didn't have any problems here either.   :)

Yea all was quiet here last night, no mischief and tonight's trick or treating was a big success.  Went through 5 bags of candy...no not me...the trick or treaters!!   It was a beautiful NE night!!  Exciting news, my DS won first prize for his pumpkin!!!!!!!!   He made it look like Sponge Bob!!!  Came out great!!

Happy Halloween!

I will check out after daylight in the a.m., but I think the kids all behaved with several of the parents standing watch while treats were being given out.  (I kept a few of the Reese's cups for BF and me.
