Did you grow up camping with friends or family?

angelsmom10

Since my father was a baker for my growing up years, he worked 6 days a week and even with that, he'd have to go in the morning that he was off to re-start the ovens as it took long to heat up.  Not much time for us kids nor campimg:(

Camped with family and friends.  The best combination ever!

Voted "No" but that's not quiite so.  Went once with my family back in the mid-60's in a rented Starcraft.  I loved it.  They didn't.

Grew up camping on most vacations as a kid...but it wasn't much fun. Dad was way too anal about the way everything was done.  None of my siblings camp now and my mother still can't believe that I love it like I do. Camping is way more fun now!

Camped for the first time at the age of 57 (went on a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon).  Took 2 years to convince my DH that camping could be fun.  We haven't looked back and are planning some cross country trips when he retires.

Grew up camping with family, friends, and Woodcraft Rangers(a Scout like organization founded by Earnest T. Seaton prior to his part in establishing the Scouts).Did I like it ? Yes ! Did it influence my future values, and choices about how my family spends much of our leisure time? You bet it did.

I remember every summer growing up we were either going camping or heading out to some property we own. We camped in an old 1969 Sears and Roebuck camper, I think it was actually made by Nimrod. It had the thick canvas on it and was the bare minimum on the inside. We camper almost all year long. It was some great times.

My parents bought a used Nimrod PU, found out that we all loved to camp (except Mom - she came along for the ride   ), then bought a new Apache hardside the next year. We traveled all over the country with it, until they bought a place on Lake Huron when I was in jr. high, and our interest in camping pretty much died out. I did the GS camping when I was little, then Interlochen in high school, and tent camping with friends in college  :D . Loved it all.

I grew up in a single parent household. Every summer my Mother and myself would go on camping vacations in a tent. We had some great times. Sometimes other campers would strike up conversation siting concern for us being on the road with no man. LOL

Started out camping with my parents in a mid 60's Winnebago TT, then went to a Starcraft pop-up the next year, both hauled with a '66 Ford Fairlane GTA.:D

After 2 divorces and a lot of years, bought my first camper 5 years ago, a '74 Venture, and have been a die-hard pop-upper ever since.:W

Between the Boy Scouts and my father -- who loved to do any kind of camping, but especially if there was an RV associated to it -- I spent a lot of time in the woods. And now, I'm exposing my kids to the same wonders...

I would go camping each summer with my youth church group.  We would go to Carolina Hemlocks Campground; part of the Nationa Forest Park System.  We would stay in huge canvas cabin tents for a whole week.  I also camped with my fraternity in college, Alpha Zeta.  The fraternity was a little different than most, we were a honor & service fraternity of agriculture.  We would spend 3 days & 2 nights canoeing & camping down the New River in the NC mountains.

I am blessed that my children have caught my love of camping!
