New Web Page - Cleaning Tenting

I have to admit, the most common question people e-mail me with is "how do I clean my canvas?"

Understanding that every manufacturer uses a different tenting material I usually just say, check your owners manual, do what they suggest and always test the cleaning solution in a small hidden area.

So, I thought I'd put together a new web page, and I'm looking to everyone for their help.

What should it say?  Any suggestions?

On my Viking I cleaned it with Purple Power and it was spotless after spraying it on with a watered down canvas/vinyl. I let the purple power rest for around 1-2 minutes. Then I used a long handled brush and scrubbed the canvas and rinsed with fresh water. The canvas came out looking like new. The only problem I see with this is the aluminum gets milky but after a coat of wash all looks great again. I have done this just in the last month as my PU is for sale.
That orange stuff works good too.

We have mildew over the bunk ends on the inside. My manual states to use woolite but that won't get it off. I am afraid to use anything else for fear it would  ruin the waterproofing. We had the new roof put on and it was closed for a month or so and when opened it we had water droplets on the inside ceiling and mildew starting . Has anyone else had this problem and what can we safely use to clean the bunk ends? Have been a bit frustrated with the Utah because of various small problems. I liked the other roof better but we had the gap in the front. Now the canvas and door do not fit right.

I sell Purple Power and it cleans really well but be careful. I have seen it dull paint and one person I know received a 3rd degree burn on his abdomen from it. Also use it with good ventalation, the fumes can be rough. I would recommend duluting and testing in a hidden spot.

The mildew is on the sunbrella.
This past weekend we went to the dealers and asked them what to use on it. She said we can use the black streak remover stuff. She said it is mostly bleach anyway. They have wipes so we can put it on where it needs it. She said it wouldn't hurt the sunbrella. I will try it in the Spring. Boy, does that seem a long time away!

PI you can use a home made bleach solution, but get some 303 High Teck Fabric Protector to rewaterproof the Sunbrella.

Yes, I probably could. I like the idea of the wipes. We'll have to see how bad it is in the spring. We have had strange weather between heat and humidity to cold. I'm sure that is part of the problem. It is so windy here today--but I still wish I was camping.
