This w/e the ridiculous piece of black foam/rubber finally wore through so that when the trunk lid is closed the light stays on.  I completely understand that it would be too expensive for Coleman to instead use a discarded 2"  x 2"  scrap of structure wood from the beds (for example) from the floor of the production line, so they instead turned to the ingenious foam/rubber thing.
Being at a campground, I simply reached through the storage doors from inside the PU and used a plastic knife to keep the light turned off.
Does anyone have a good suggestion to replace the rubber/foam thing with?  Not wanting to void the warranty, I don t want to screw or rivet anything to the lid.  So I guess something that I can glue to the underside of the storage trunk lid?  What kind of glue?  Etc...?

 Thanks in advance!

Red neff BarchettaIs it still under warrenty?  If so have your dealer fix it and you will not have to worry.[:)]

Red neff BarchettaJeff I d call the dealer and see what they can do, they may have a fix you can do yourself.  Let the dealer know you don t want another piece of foam this time either.  I doubt if you fix it that it will void the warranty though, just keep the old part if you need it.

Red neff BarchettaThanks for the replies!
I stopped by my PU mechanic s today.  My dealer is pretty useless (just ask abbear), so I always go straight to the mechanic they use for warranty work.  He s a great guy and gets a work order # from the dealer, so I don t even have to talk to them anymore, which is nice.
Anyway, he suggested peeling off the piece of foam and cleaning the remaining residue off with rubbing alcohol.  Then, get some " earthquake double-sided tape"  and a piece of wood and install the wood with the tape.  If it doesn t last long, he ll use his industrial strength glue to make it stick.  He says this happens to EVERY Coleman storage trunk light that he has seen after about a year.
So, like his suggestion, I think I ll try the fix myself first because it would be pretty silly to have to empty the PU out to leave it at his place for a day or 2 until he could get to it.  He s a great guy like I said, but I m not that stupid (just don t ask my wife, ha) to leave the PU full of items that could dissapear.
