I know that some people have made drill adapters for lifting the roof of the PU.  How do you make one???

If you have the tools to do the job, it's not hard. All you need is a 5/8" Deep Well Socket, and some kind of cutting tool. You'll have to cut a notch into the business end of the socket, and that notch will have to be wide enough to slip over the little "pinch points" on the stabilizers and the roll pin inside the crank receiver. An air cutting tool works best, most auto garages will have them and could possibly do this for you, others have used a dremel. When using a socket, you'll also need a hex shank adapter (one end that fits into a drill, the other end to fit a 3/8" square socket, available at Sears or any hardware store.

One other shortcut, would be to buy a spare hand crank, and just cut the shaft before the first turn with a hack saw! I bought a spare handle at the RV dealer for $9.99 and did that, works like a champ!
