Boy, we have learned a lot about your water heater today.....

You are all under control now! ;)

Mommamia,

Sorry if this has already been covered. I don't have enough time on the computer these days to read through all the replies. Here's what I do:

1.) Hold the gas knob on pilot
2.) Get one of those really long matches
3.) Hold it under the thermocoupler (the little thingy the pilot light heats up) until the match is about halfway burned. No counting is necessary!
4.) Turn the gas knob to on
5.) SWOOSH! The heater is lit.

Never fails!

Hope this helps.

p.s. remember to light the stove first to get the air out of the lines. If this is redundant, my apologies. :)

Thanks for the input!   I got it lit earlier today.  Took almost 5 mins to get the gas there and I HAD light the stove AND the fridge already.  We just bought the camper but it had sat unused (they were good to it and it was garaged ALL of it's life)for almost 2 years.
