Pleas don't vote.  The date has been set by those that voted on or before December 22, 2003.  September 24th weekend was the winner.  You can make your reservations by calling 1-888-PA-PARKS Monday through Saturday 7am to 5pm.  You can pay by credit card or mail a check.

The original thread for this trip got messed up when the board changed over, so I am starting a new one.

The big decision for the Hickory Run Trip is which weekend.  I called the park and they have a lot of openings September 24th, October 1st and October 8th weekends.  October 8th is Columbus Day weekend which would allow some people to camp for a third night.  The leaves should be turning in early October.  So vote for a weekend and we will set the date for this trip. :W

Here is a link for the park, and most of the group usually camps in the electric sites.

Hickory Run does have a few pet sites in the electric loop.  Here is a link to the pet information.  The electric sites that allow pets are 209, 211 and 216 (which can get wet/flood if it rains hard) and the non-electric sites are 279 through 297.

Tracy,
As you know from my previous posts HR SP is one of my faves and from the results so far it looks like I should make my reservations tomorrow, if I want 'my' site. ;)
Sept. 24th is our anniversary and we were thinking about going to HR SP the 23rd to the 26th. Although we're still debating between R.B. Winter & Laurel Hill for that w/e also.
Maybe we'll finally see ya there???

BTW we can't make it oct.1st we're going to Col. Denning and I have to workthe w/e of oct. 8th.

Hi Mike,

I hope you can join us at HR.  If you go to RB Winter and it isn't a weekend we are away camping, send me an email and we will try to stop by and visit with you. :)

I vote for October 8th weekend. My birthday falls on Columbus Day this year. If we do not go that weekend, I will make my annual pilgrimage home (where motel 6 is actually cheaper than the local campground) and get some Persimmon Pudding. It is New Albany Indiana's Harvest Home Coming and all the groups sell tins of persimmon pudding.

Paula did you vote?  There was one vote for October 8th and you said you voted for October 8th.  If you did vote, your vote didn't get recorded.

As soon as we have a firm date I will register...I hope to get site 209 since 216 was really a bad site when it rained :)

Tracy, can you email me when the date is set???  I don't always monitor the board.  I would really appreciate it :)

Deb I will be glad to email you as soon as we decide.  I am glad you are going to come. :)

This past camping season was such a bust for me.  With things getting back to normal again I can now safely plan future excursions.  THANK GOD !!!!

Missed out on the 2003 Hickory Run trip and sooo missed it.  Still clearly recollect 2002 and all the good times.

Since I  live so close to HR SP,  date is not a big issue.  I just really want to get back to camping with some fellow PUT members.  I'll just follow the lead for now.

By the way....Did you ever wonder where the HR SP bears go after the camping season ends and the dumpsters run dry?

I live not too far away & they come visit me.  Take a look.

Hi Dave it is nice to here from you.  You were missed on the trip.

If you don't want the bears in your back yard you shouldn't pour honey all over the ground back there. ;)  :p  :D
